Poured into a tulip. Aged for a minimum of nine months in used bourbons barrels.
Pours a deep, syrupy burgundy. Milky with yeast. Not many bubbles arise; a hard pour delivers a quarter inch of light tan head. Not the best-looking brew.
But the aroma. Oh, the aroma. The most intense caramel/toffee/bourbon/vanilla. I'm looking at the glass three feet away on the table and can pick out nuances. Crazy-rich. Brown sugar and maple come out upon closer inspection, with softer milk chocolate.
A two-step flavor. The front is all toffee-covered in chocolate. Tangy cherry as well. The swallow brings the rich heaviness I expected. Maple syrup, melted chocolate, vanilla bean, bourbon. Sweet, heavy.
Velvet-smooth and full-bodied, like heavy cream. The alcohol is giant and unavoidable, arriving at the swallow with heat in the throat and fire in the nostrils. A light tingle of carbonation.
Very rich, very sweet. Maybe a touch too much sugar. Not a ton of depth, but a ton of flavor.
