Pours a murky mahogany with cherry highlights and one finger tan head that fades quickly and leaves nice oily legs around the glass, but barely a hint of lacing. Just as expected.
Caramel, vanilla, dark dried fruit, huge bourbon notes, Touches of sweetened espresso, marshmallow, figs, dates, and cocoa powder.
Completely mimics the nose. Caramel enrobed in chocolate, vanilla marshmallows stuffed with a blend of dried fig/cherry/date/raisins and drizzled with coffee/dark cocoa ganache. Notes of citrus lay in wait. HUGE notes of sweet vanilla bourbon and oak.
Not quite as thick as I was hoping for, but it really sticks to your tongue and envelopes as it goes down. I think the bourbon thins it out but also intensify's and brings together all of these incredible flavors.
This is a really intense experience in a bottle. Old Ale... Barleywine... call it what you will. This is worth seeking out, and I'm glad I did!!!
