2010 vintage. Opened alongside the '11 at a recent tasting, and we agreed the '10 was clearly superior (with the differences not attributable to age).
Dull, murky-looking pour, but this brew makes up what it lacks in looks with personality galore. Caramel, oak, dark raisins, bourbon, aged booze, tons of malt. Love the aroma!
Malts and caramel flow freely around my taste buds while the bourbon and aged booze fall into a supporting role. Dark fruits make a brief appearance before settling into a slightly sweet finish, augmented by a nice warming sensation in the back of my throat. Viscous body nails the delivery. Very complex, and tasty as hell.
As stated above, the '11 couldn't hold a candle to the 2010. Whatever they did to that earlier batch was magical, and I want more!
