Notes taken on my phone a few nights ago. Huge thanks to my cousin Sonny for sharing this one with me, an all-time Want for me. Wish I had my notebook but the notes will have to suffice.
A- Poured to a wine glass with a dark brown almost opaque body. Small foamy white head forms but quickly recedes to the edges as a small ring. Spotty lacing for the most part but some nice patches around the glass.
S- Deep bourbon and huge old ale aroma blasts out of the bottle, I could smell it right as I broke the seal. Bourbon is not alcoholic feeling but quite smooth while remaining strong aromatically. Rich caramel sweet base and some raisin, slight cocoa dark malts.
T- Follows the nose very well, rich and decadent old ale with a great barrel bourbon feel blended in. The old ale base reminds me of a less sweet Old Stock, big raisin and dusty aged caramel. Bourbon is a bit peppery and has vanilla oak notes. Slight dusty dark cocoa feel.
MF- Super thick bodied with a semi-creamy but mostly oily feel. Carbonation at a moderate low level but suits what is happening. Finishes with some sweetness and a soothing warmth on the palate.
Right up my alley. Super intense Old Ale flavors and huge but ABV well hidden. The bourbon barrel is strong but the base has a ton complex flavors of its own.

A- Poured into my CCB snifter it is almost black, with dark brown hues around the edges. A tiny wisp of a tan head quickly dissipates, and only miniscule bits of carbonation can be seen rising. Not super pretty, but expected with the style and barrel aging.
S- The aroma is sweet dried/candied fruit bliss! Prunes, raisins, dates, figs, and even some dried pineapple and apricot! A huge malt backbone of caramel and bread. Significant vanilla and oak from the bourbon barrel come through. Hints of dark chocolate, cherry, and blackberry finish things up. As far as the style goes this may be the perfect aroma!
T- The taste follows the aroma pretty well, though there are some additional flavors. The first I noticed was damp tobacco. There is some peat, and a surprising bit of tart cherry. The dark fruits from the aroma are present, but perhaps not as prevalent. Fig and prune are the most noticeable, with raisin following right behind. The caramel and bready malts play a good supporting role. There is a hint of vanilla, but very little of the chocolate from the aroma. Significant amounts of medicinal and alcohol flavors take a bit away from this.
M- The mouth feel is thick, but not overly viscous. A bit sharp with alcohol, medicinal feel, and low carbonation.
O- This was awesome and incredibly complex! I only wish the harsh medicinal and alcohol flavors weren't so pronounced.
