Bottle share in Hoboken, NJ.
A: Pours a medium brown in color with some dark amber hints when held up to the light. The beer has a thin light beige head that quickly reduces to a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal lacing is observed.
S: This beer has a nice complexity to the aroma with some noticeable sweetness. There is some dark fruit sweetness with cherries and dates, some dark malts, and the heavy influence of the bourbon - some hints of oak, some hints of vanilla, and the actual bourbon smell.
T: The beer is sweet but not cloying. There is quite a bit of sweetness from the dark fruit - mostly cherries with some hints of dates. The beer has some dark malts and lots of flavor contribution from the bourbon barrel. I love the oakiness and smooth vanilla which are quite strong in the taste.
M: Full bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth and creamy.
O: There is some alcohol present in this beer, especially as it warms up. The beer is a great sipping beer and has a wonderful complexity to the smell and taste. I enjoyed this beer but it was not super easy to drink and is definitely too strong to be sessionable.
