first and foremost. Thank you matttYCE for this one! seriously appreciate it man
2011 vintage poured into Bruery Snifter
A: very dark maple brown in color, created a thin film that was tan in color. absolutely no transparency even when held directly up to the light
S: the aroma is just massive and it was immediately notice during the pour. this is simply off the charts. just absolutely massive amounts of alcohol soaked dark fruits (raisins and figs), huge vanilla, oak chips, bourbon. immense sweet caramel.
T: unbelievable balance. again, just a ridiculous amount of vanilla and caramel sweetness, alcohol soaked dark fruits, bourbon and oak.
M: oh my God. this has to be one of the thickest beers I have even had. this could pass off as syrup. It coats the mouth with a terrific sugary sweetness and just sticks to the palate and the vanilla lingers.
O: absolute 5's (expect in appearance) for me. and I am now in forever ISO of this brew. I was blown away by its viscosity, and for it being 13.5%, I do not detect any alcohol heat whatsoever. Seriously, I cannot thank you enough Matt!

Notes taken on my phone a few nights ago. Huge thanks to my cousin Sonny for sharing this one with me, an all-time Want for me. Wish I had my notebook but the notes will have to suffice.
A- Poured to a wine glass with a dark brown almost opaque body. Small foamy white head forms but quickly recedes to the edges as a small ring. Spotty lacing for the most part but some nice patches around the glass.
S- Deep bourbon and huge old ale aroma blasts out of the bottle, I could smell it right as I broke the seal. Bourbon is not alcoholic feeling but quite smooth while remaining strong aromatically. Rich caramel sweet base and some raisin, slight cocoa dark malts.
T- Follows the nose very well, rich and decadent old ale with a great barrel bourbon feel blended in. The old ale base reminds me of a less sweet Old Stock, big raisin and dusty aged caramel. Bourbon is a bit peppery and has vanilla oak notes. Slight dusty dark cocoa feel.
MF- Super thick bodied with a semi-creamy but mostly oily feel. Carbonation at a moderate low level but suits what is happening. Finishes with some sweetness and a soothing warmth on the palate.
Right up my alley. Super intense Old Ale flavors and huge but ABV well hidden. The bourbon barrel is strong but the base has a ton complex flavors of its own.
