Review from notes (May 2012).
A: Dark with mahogany glints. Very thin off-white head that fades quite quickly.
S: Woody, oaky scent. The nose is also sweet, with aromas of caramel and soaked orange. Nice!
T: Mainly caramel, toffee, chocolate upfront. Also wood, vanilla, soaked red fruits ans dark fruits.
M: Mouthfeel is sweet, buttery, thick, actually fat. A bit boozy on the finish, so a long time sipper rather than something very drinkable. Still appropriate for the beer.
O: SI had this side by side with Närke Kaggen! Stormakstporter on an epic day. Very different beers indeed, still it stood the comparison!

From a bottle into a tulip.

A: Pours a murky brown with almost a red or purple tinge. Good finger or so of light tan head with good retention, no lacing.

S: Just outstanding. Aroma is of sweet boozy bourbon and vanilla. Caramel. Almost nutty.

T/M: Big vanilla. Caramel. Charred brown sugar. Bourbon. Sweet dark fruit. A woody, almost maple character. Sweet, but balanced by the booze. Mouthfeel is incredibly thick, with low carbonation.

O: Truly remarkable. So very sad that I only have one bottle. Worth whatever hype it gets.
