Bottle from Winter Solstice. Served in a classy plastic cup.

A - White foam quickly settles to nothing. Transparent orange body. About what you'd expect from something that's largely mead and 16% ABV.

S - Pumpkins, honey, vanilla, pumpkin spices. Alcohol isn't really present at all. I'd be hard-pressed to identify the beer portion of this, as it smells like a pumpkin mead. Really nice though!

T - The taste is similar, with plenty of pumpkin and related spices, vanilla, and sweet honey. There's a mild cough syrup note mixed in that gets a fatiguing after a while, but it's fairly subtle. There's not a ton of beer presence; this may as well be a Hallowe'en mead.

M - Low carbonation, somewhat tannic and starchy texture. Medium-full in body, with only mild alcohol warming.

D - It's a pumpkin braggot. It tastes like a blend of pumpkin ale and mead, which I'm pretty sure is exactly what it is. Good in limited quantities, but more due to the intensity and saccharine natures of flavor profile than the alcohol content. I'd happily have a 6oz pour of this if I saw it on-tap at Kuhnhenn in the future.

Bottle picked up at the 2011 Winter Solstice party.

A - Pours clear orange/brown with no head but a small stream of rising carbonation.

S - Mostly honey and spices. Any pumpkin character is subtle, but pumpkin pie spices are quite prominent. Somehow it also has the aroma of a sweet cola. Overall, aroma ispretty quite pleasant and an interesting combination of sweet and spice.

T - Tastes like a spiced mead, with honey, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Definitely very mead-like, though I am also new to braggots. Sweetness is by no means overwhelming and alcohol is ridiculously well hidden for a 16% beer.

M - Smooth, medium mouthfeel.

O - I don't wish I got more pumpkin character other than the spices, but this was pretty tasty. Hard for me to differentiate this from a mead, but it was quite enjoyable.

Thanks to hoppymcgee for sharing this at last night's tasting. Unbeknownst to him, I'd just had the regular Braggot the night before, so this was a nice treat.

Boring gold appearance aside, this is an intensely flavored beer. Vanilla and pumpkin spice aromas erupt from my tulip, causing flight cancellations at JFK. Smells super sweet; honestly reminds me of a scented candle. More mead-y than beer-y.

Keeping with the mead motif, this baby is full of vanilla and very sweet. Doesn't have the dark, oaky, maltiness of the regular Braggot. Lots of pumpkin spice and honey too.

...And once again: *zero* alcoholic presence. It's already too full of bold flavors and sugars to be anything but a sipper, but MY GOD that 16% is invisible. Among the best examples of hiding booze in a beer.

Though I definitely couldn't drink as much of this, I prefer it to their regular Braggot. And I'll definitely be trading for a bottle of Chocolate Pumpkin Braggot this year!

Bottle shared by Sammy, 12oz bottle into a tulip. 2011 vintage.

Poured a clear golden orange, low carbonation and almost approaching still. Some bubbles in the body seem to indicate otherwise. Nose is gorgeous, a perfumey pumpkin aroma radiated from this. Floral, with lots of honey, cinnamon, biscuit and cracker. Mouthwatering, for real. Flavour does not disappoint either, pumpkin, honey, floral character and a general sense of cinnamon toast crunch in liquid form all combine in an awesome way. Low carbonation as estimated by my eyeball-ometrics, honey stickiness and surprisingly the alcohol is almost invisible - incredibly dangerous given something of such flavour. A fantastic offering, and certainly an amazing introduction to braggots for me. I would revisit this in a heartbeat.

12oz bottle, shared with the Fiancé. Poured into tasting glass.

A - Pours a golden yellow, quickly dissipating fizzy white head, some random bubbles here and there on top.

S - Honey, maybe some slight pumpkin and spices, but really just smells like a Kuhnhenn mead. I think the mead portion of this Braggot just overpowers the Pumpkin aspect. No alcohol notes at all..which is just crazy.

T - A nice sipper. Honey, slight spices, light caramel. Again, the pumpkin is really hidden by the mead aspect. The finish is really where I can pick out some pumpkin skin notes, a bit bitter and slightly harsh. No alcohol notes, once again...impressive.

M - Light, syrupy, a sipper.

O - I was hoping to be a bit more excited from this beer, but the pumpkin is really just too subtle to enjoy it all that much. I love the meads from Kuhnhenn, but this is supposed to be a Braggot, not a straight mead. Decent.

Bottle thanks to Masterski. Snifter.

A: Pellucid yellow gold with a small fast fading white head.

S: Smells like Pumpkin potpourri, with nutmeg, vanilla, and cinnamon. Floral note are pronounced, and honey is strong as well. This would make an excellent scented candle. I get a little apple and brown sugar as well. Wow! What an aroma.

T: Heavily spiced, with big cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice notes. This is intense. Honey blends with alcohol, vanilla, and a tasteful pumpkin presence. This tastes much more like mead than like beer.

M: Medium in body with moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is dry and sticky.

Overall: A very nice Braggot. It's more like mead than like beer. I'm digging this, but it's intense.

Growler shared by Thorpe, thanks. A lot like the chocolate braggot but without the chocolate, this time the spice actually comes through and so does the pumpkin character. I liked this one better than the first but both were fine as braggots.

Beer is orange and mostly clear with a thin off white head, low retention, minimal lacing, low carbonation, almost still in fact.

Aroma is a little allspice, a little nutmeg, some pumpkin and honey sneaks through.

This one you can taste the floral character of the honey a little better. Interesting overall though. More pumpkin more spice comes through. I enjoyed it. No hint of alcohol in either, which is impressive.

Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike.

The beer is clear and golden colored with minimal head and virtually no lacing. The aroma offers honey, booze, pumpkin, pie, spices. Lots of pumpkin, honey sweetness, subtle spices well integrated. Well balanced with alcohol well hidden. Would not have guessed this is 16% abv. A great beer for sipping. Recommended.

Tap @ Kuhnhenn 8-7-10 on its latest release day. Hazy, dirty brass color with lots of bubbles formed on the inside of the glass and a large head. Big pumpkin pie crust and spicy nose with nutmeg and cinnamon notes.

Been in the tank since December, 2009 according to the maker. It had nutmeg, cinnamon, orange peel allspice vanilla and a little clove in it. The flavors were well-balanced and it definitely had a nice pumpkin character ("a blend of Orange Blossom Mead (2/3) and Pumpkin Ale (1/3) that is then spiced" according to the flyer).

Very drinkable and only a few gallons made: Tap only, though I managed to fill a swingtop to put in the fridge!. Semi-dry, lightly sweet and nicely spiced.
