Notes/Commercial Description:
Our Imperial White Ale is a cloudy straw color, and has a zesty citrus nose and a medium sweet aroma. It is refreshingly crisp with a bit of a wheat flavor. With medium hop bitterness, this is a delightful brew for any season.

Always nice to try a new beer from Kuhnhenn, thanks Derek!

Pours a hazy golden orange hue with close to an inch of head that falls down to a thin layer and a well formed ring.

Spicy clove and wheat notes at first, followed by apple, pear, and notes of bubblegum. A touch of cinnamon, toast, orange, and also a noticeable mint aroma in the background. Nice balance of sweet and tangy wheat and phenols. Sometimes it comes a cross as a light banana bread with a touch of vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. A quarter of the way through the beer has warmed up more and the apple/pear juice-like aroma grows a tad stronger, but still not enough to distract or overwhelm the beer.

Zesty wheat flavors upfront, pale malt sweetness, and a finish of spices, mostly clove and a bit of cinnamon, and lastly a bit of lemon. Later on the beginning has an almost bitter apple flavor that quickly gives way to the tangy-sweet combination of the wheat. Very subtle banana or bubblegum sweetness at first. A touch of alcohol warmth also can be detected in the finish. Somewhat a little too bland. A little more banana sweetness once the beer starts to warm up.

Mouthfeel is very good with moderate carbonation, a little heavy malt presence on the palate, and with a clean finish that leaves just a touch of residual sugar to keep some flavor going, without being cloying. Quite easy to drink for nearly 10%

Growler pour from DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY, pours hazed medium apricot amber, short lived off white 1/4 inch head, and then, a tiny bubble film and minor lacing. Ripe fruit, bananas, creamcicle, honey, light pepper and yeast in the nose. Tasty, zesty, citric, bold, complex weizenbock, more creamcicle notes, ample pepper, loads of ripe tropical fruit, lime, smooth finish. Love the style, love the Kuhnhenn brews, so you know this one was quite enjoyable. Nice to find this one available, and fresh on tap at my local.

Bottle from the brewery, Winter Solstice. Beautiful peachy orange appearance with white head that reflected the fading sunset. Wonderful wheat aroma draws me in easily. Above average mouthfeel, tasty wheat, leading to a pinnacle of bannana and orange citrus fruit. Very drinkable.
Had again on tap at the brewpub and tasty fruity wheat.

Had this on tap at the brewery. Its a very light straw colored brew, a little cloudy. Bright white head stays with this all the way down. Aroma of wheat and citrus is easy to pick up. Tastes also of wheat and grapefruit. Mild bodied. Slightly carbonated and refreshing. Very tasty beer and extremely easy to drink.

A: It poured cloudy deep golden orange with no bubbles visible on the surface.
S: There is a distinct aroma of grapefruit and wheat malts in the nose, along with spices such as clove, coriander and pepper.
T: The taste generally follows the smell and is rather fruity with flavors of grapefruit and orange. The overall taste is very well balanced between the fruits, spices and malty sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate.
D: For its strength, the alcohol is very well masked making this beer very drinkable. I would definitely have this again as it was fruity and refreshing.

Served in a pint glass on tap from Crunchy's, East Lansing.

A gold to orange body. Head disappeared on the way to my table. Aromas of light sugars, spices, and citrus. Flavors of wheat, lemon, apples, cloves, and alcohol. The body was qquite hin for the alcohol/sugar attributes of this beer. Quite sweet. Enjoyable drink.

Had a 12 ounce pour of this at the Amsterdam Ale House on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

I'm not the biggest fan of Weizenbock. The combination of a wheat beer and 9.5% alcohol doesn't work for me. Visually, it was a very light color with a lot of good carbonation. The aroma is very wheat-like and good. Mouthfeel was ok but the alcohol is a little heavy handed which would lower the drinkability for me.
