Nightcap. Served in a New Belgium tulip. Purchased at the 2011 Winter Solstice.

A - Transparent pale golden body. Light white foam settles to nothing. Pretty much what I expected from a 16% braggot.

S - A delicious blend of milk chocolate, orange blossom mead, vanilla, and light pumpkin spices. There's really no alcohol at all here, and it somehow avoids being cloying sweet. No obvious alcohol - just delicious chocolate-drizzled pumpkin pie.

T - The taste is like drinking a liquid chocolate bar, with mild notes of coffee, vanilla, and honey in the periphery. Not much pumpkin character; perhaps the spices have faded a bit in the intervening 16 months or so. Delicious, but not quite as complex as the aroma.

M - Medium-full body, lower carbonation, and no perceptible alcohol heat. Smooth texture, with a lightly sticky finish.

D - This was terrific. So good that I texted my friends the next morning to ask if they had more bottles. Alas, they did not. Hopefully Frank whips up another batch of this one, as it was a delicious easy-drinking braggot that would be perfect for Hallowe'en or Thanksgiving. Just make sure to share it a few ways.

Thanks to the incomparable FlandersNed for this treat.

A: No head or anything even close. A rather bright, vibrant orange body.

S: Smells a bit like orange soda. But in the best way. Rich chocolate and frosting are also present.

T: Reminiscent of an orange tootsie roll pop. Also some honey and marzipan.

M: Lots of gentle carbonation initially, and then peters off.

O: A unique offering, and overall quite enjoyable. I would certainly have it again, but then it wouldn't be so special. You will need a sweet tooth to enjoy it!

Received from seeswo in the Blind Beers BIF. This was poured into a tulip and reviewed blind.

Pours a hazy, rosy wheat color without even a hint of head, or carbonation, or bubbles of any kind.

Enticing aroma. Cinnamon, apple, honey, vanilla, bits of green tea and mint. I could honestly smell this all night, but it’s not like any beer I’ve had — in fact, it smells more like a mead.

The flavor’s a little less bright and a little more sweet. Honey, apple juice, cinnamon, white chocolate, nutmeg, roast pumpkin. Pretty big smack of alcohol as well.

Medium body is viscous like simple syrup. Heat is obvious and comes through the nose at the same time it flames the throat. Carbonation is light, but is apparent and electric on the tongue.

Viscous, super-sweet, honey-laden, boozy — Kuhnhenn Chocolate Pumpkin Braggot seems more like a mead than a beer. The pumpkin became fairly obvious once I unwrapped the bottle, and the other layers of flavor within are enjoyable. Good stuff.

Bottle from the Kuhnhenn 2011 Winter Solstice party. Served in a Kuhnhenn tulip.

Pours a clear medium orange color with a very thin, bubbly white head to start. No real lacing or retention. The nose brings a bit of chocolate plus some pumpkin spice. The latter is fairly light. Some honey as well. The flavor hits the chocolate notes well, with a bit of Tootsie Roll in there. Pumpkin spices as well, focusing on nutmeg and cinnamon. Medium chewy body with low carbonation and no hint of the 16% alcohol. Really quite good. Boom.

Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike.

The beer is clear and golden orange hued. Transparent with stagnant bubbles suspended in the liquid. Very slight white head that fades rapidly, leaving virtually no lacing.

The aroma brings alcohol, pumpkin, butternut squash, pie, autumnal spices.

Great flavor. Alcoholic warmth with at first, followed by a rush of delicate spices and pumpkin pie. I enjoy the flavor even more than the aroma.

Light to medium in body with moderately low carbonation. Alcohol presence is unobtrusive, especially considering the high gravity of the beer.

Overall, a great sipper. Very enjoyable.

Bottle brought back from the Winter Soltice. Floral aroma. Light orange colour. Low carbonation, this works and makes it smooth, but surprising for the style. Spicey, pecans, butterscotch, chocolate and pumpkin in the finish that builds up. Hops, Styrian Goldings? Above average mouthfeel.

Thanks Thorpe, beer is orangish with a slight haze to it, thin lazy head, low retention, low carbonation, no lacing. Looks fine.

Aroma is sweet, a little solventy, honey, spice, some chocolate.

This beer is sweet, medium in body, coats the mouth with this sort of tootsie roll like candy sense and finishes with some mild bitterness from the chocolate. Interesting overall, I wish I considered braggots beer.
