Bottle into tulip

Appearance: darker amber orange with white half finger head

Smell: simcoe citrus/grapefruit, very floral earthy hops, alcohol, guava and other tropical notes, bubblegum

Taste:you notice the alcohol, not overwhelming but surely not hidden. Lots of clove and bubblegum, some coriander notes as well. Some floral citrus notes blend well with the subtle malt backbone. Hardly bitter at all.

Mouthfeel: decently carbonated, but could possibly use more to make booziness more subtle. Very full bodied beer

Overall: My first Kuhnhenn, i enjoyed this one a lot. Expecting huge floral/simcoe notes but they werent really dominant over the alcohol, has some elements of a scotch ale mixed in. Pretty expensive and wont seek out, but will buy again as it was a refreshing well balanced brew.

Bottle poured into a FFF tulip

A - Copper with orange hues. Small amount of carbonation seen trailing upwards. Small white head that leaves nice lacing

S - Sweet pineapple, mango, light strawberry, bubblegum. Very slight floral notes too with a slight kick of booze. This is one sweet and very powerful nose. Really great to smell.

T - Bubblegum and clove with a slight floral aspect as well. Don't get as much sweet fruit as I did in the nose. There is a slight alcohol that comes near the end which when mixed with the bubblegum reminds me of cough syrup. Not a big fan of the taste.

MF - Lots of carbonation with a medium, slightly sticky body.

O - This was an intriguing beer as I loved the smell but the taste was too much bubblegum and booze together. This made it taste off and a bit like medicine.

Big orange citrus taste up front. Very good orange aroma. Cushioned mouthfeel. Yeast in the finish. Very good for style. Could also pass as a Belgian IPA. Honey bulks up mouthfeel, makes it smooth. Dangerously drinkable at this alcohol level. Thanks for sharing Josh.

2012 Vintage poured in to Kuhnhenn tulip.

A - Cloudy golden orange with a thin layer of cream coloured head.

S - Belgian yeast, clove and peppery spice are complimented by sweet bubblegum, tropical fruit and grapefruit.

T - Yeast esters, spice, clove and a huge bubblegum flavour. Lighter mango and apricot notes. A warming alcohol presence throughout but overall the alcohol is very well hidden for the ABV.

M - Medium body; slightly sticky. Light carbonation.

12oz into a snifter.

A: Pours a glowing dark honey color with a small off-white head.

S: Simcoe is still going strong in the nose, with notes of juicy grapefruit, honey, marshmallow, lime zest, mango, fresh grain.

T: Taste comprises pineapple, bitterish resin and pine sap, malty vanilla, stone fruit, honey, white cake, cloves, hint of dark alcohol.

M: Medium-bodied with light carbonation.

O: Even with a few months of age on it, this still feels like a bright and juicy Belgian DIPA. Very tasty.

Bottle shared by solidfunk (RB), 12oz into a tulip. From the most recent Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice.

Orangey red hues, offwhite head with light retention and head. Nose has Belgian yeast, some herbal and citrus notes. Orange and tangerine is at the center of the action. Taste has sweet tangerine, orange and clementines, honey and a beautiful drying Belgian yeast character. Full, sweet body and the alcohol is disguised. So sad I passed up on this on draught at the Winter Solstice :( (good thing though as I probably would've died).

Thanks to erric for this one and lots of goodies from Kuhnhenn. Shared with rudzud.

Light fizzy smaller head, touch of lacing, semi hazy copper slight reddish color.

Nose boozy sweet malt, candy slight syrupy, Belgian esters, light phenols too, big sweet aromas with a bit of honey, simcoe is there but less than I expected, a light musty cat piss but also some tropical fruit with a light pineapple, grapefruit, touch of citrus, light candied orange peel.

Taste is very different than I expected, a bit fruity flavor like generic fruit punch, big booze, esters, phenolic booze, apple and pear like, light cardboard too. There is some simcoe, musty cat piss again, light pineapple, touch of citrus, etc. Fair bitterness. Then sweet syrupy malts, Belgian like golden with a sweet syrupy candy. There is a honey too, but a dried honey, and big earthy dirt like flowery honey flavor. Very strange overall flavor. Finish is still syrupy sweet, fair bitterness, more booze, light phenols and esters, but if sticky candy malts, dried honey, and but of pineapple and simcoe hop flavours, late yeasty flavor too.

Mouth is med to fuller bod, despite tasting the alcohol it doesn't burn, lighter carb too.

Overall not impressed at all.

12oz. bottle poured into an IPA glass.

(A)- Pours a deep caramel orange amber color. Produced a nice cap of white froth. Good retention and lacing too considering this beer's ABV

(S)- A big combo of a spicy yeast met with candied pineapple and apricot citrus. A touch of pine.

(T)- A big burst of candied pineapple, orange, and apricot meets a subtle yeasty spice kick in the middle. Finishes smooth and sweet.

(M)- A good carbonation level and balance. The fruity sweetness might get to be a bit much, but that yeasty kick helps settle it.

(O)- This really reminds me of a more successful, less boozy 120 Minute. Better balanced and more dynamic with the belgian yeast addistion. An exciting and enjoyable beverage.
