Visited in August 2023 during a long road trip. It was raining in buckets that day... Huge room, lots of seats at their enormous bar. I was one of two or one patrons there. Sat in a spot where I had full view of the brewing operation. I would love to visit again in the winter when it's packed. Seems like it would be a fun, jumpin joint... My bartender was quite friendly, but for the most part left me alone, which was fine. She was happy to help when I wanted to grab some bottles and cans on my way out... Their beer is interesting, both in house flavor and style variety. I wouldn't say the house flavor is good or bad. It's just very unique (yeast or water, I can't quite tell), something it seems was established long ago and never changed. Like a relic of 80s or early 90s homebrew... Their selection (on the order of well over 20 different taps, not to mention other bottled varieties, as well as non-beer alcoholic beverages) is relatively insane. I think I had a dampfbier, a brown ale, and I believe several small (flight-style) tasters. Along the way, ate a dinner-plate sized Bavarian pretzel thing, which was good, toasty and salty to perfection. I believe they had pizza too. But nothing else, food-wise... The heavy barrel-aged beers I brought home were all superb. Glad I went out of my way for a visit.

This place gives off the best up north winter hole in the wall vibe. There’s lots of different beer that they offer. Food trucks are there most nights.

Visited on a Monday evening. Almost no one in the bar, except for the monthly brewers club meeting, which the Kuhnhenn's attend.
V - A bar that is a brewery. You come here for the beer or nothing else. Clean, bright, with mainly four person high tops. More of a towny feel than a craft beer feel. 4.25
Qual - DRIPA served in a large stemmed tulip. A full pour of a big ABV beer - nice! 4.5
Ser - Brian the tender was very helpful. When asked about bottles not on the menu he was at the ready, which is how I purchased the Dementia 4D BA and the Raspberry Eisbock. 4.75
Sel - Great selection of Kuhnhenn beer only. IPAs to Stouts to lagers and hefe and sours. 4.5
F - None really, some pretzels and personal pizzas.

An absolutely classic German beer bar--complete with plenty of hardwood surfaces, gnomes, woodland creature vibes, and even a cask beer engine--this place has all the neighborhood watering hole feels, but with a much more invitingly spacious charm. While they have a large tent set up outside, the space inside is so expansive I can't imagine needing it. Although, considering how many people live around here, I'm sure Friday and Saturday nights can get busy.
The tap list almost seems like it never ends, both of unique entries, and separate styles. It's an impressively varied list, despite leaning largely German. Their barrel program, from which I've traded for bottles several times in the past, is the main reason I'm familiar enough with this brewery to have gone out of my way to stop here. Although nothing from that selection was available on draft today, everything I had was satisfying to impressive, even including the totally out of left field slushy-style seltzer. While I'm on that subject, it's worth noting that when I saw it pour out of the tap, I was completely dumbfounded because I had originally thought it was an actual frozen slushy when I saw somebody else drinking it. It was an opaque pure white from top to bottom, and clung to the glass with a thickly retaining head that looked like actual slushy ice. In actuality, it pours out of the tap as fully fluid liquid. When have you ever seen a seltzer with a bright, porcelain white head that retained persistently thick over a 30 minute session?
Anyway, I started with a dunkel that was nostalgically tasty, then moved on to a gose that was highly complex without any added flavorings or fruits, and finished with a barleywine that, despite it's less than stellar collaborative partner, was knockout stunner. It's a good thing I live far from here.

Visited the Clinton Township brewery on Grossbeck road with a group at end of December 2018. Appearance of brewery was dark with dirty cloudy windows. No kitchen to order a meal but had an appetizer menu. Had the pretzel and Mac and cheese bits. Pretzel was average, Mac and cheese bits terrible. As far as beer, the Dripa was very good but the other beers, pumpkin beer, stout, Pilsner, were not good. Thin with hard finish. Kuhnhenn, I know you can do better.

Pretty basic setup inside the Warren location. Really no food available, but you'll see someone with a pizza box from nearby almost each time you visit.
Tons of beer on tap. Way more than your typical brewery IMO. Very diverse styles with plenty to enjoy. They can be a little reluctant, but they will give you a taster of the expensive mead bottles they have for sale if you ask nicely.
One other thing to note, is they do quality growler fills. CO2 purge, tube filled to the top, sealed, and even shrink wrap the top of the growler. The tubes sit in a nearby pitcher of something (probably sanitizer) since they use so often. Good place to take some beer home with you.
Decent beer prices at the bar. Some of their special releases can run about $9-10 / 12oz bottle but I haven't seen these on tap, so I'm not sure if they mark them up.

Stopped in here one afternoon fairly early on a Saturday before a high school reunion that I wasn't looking forward to and enjoyed myself enough to actually have fun at the reunion. Staff while not stars on the paying attention to customers they were very knowledgeable. Had the sampler and each one was well described. Good beers and will definitely return next time I am back in town!

I like that this place doesn't try to be anything more than a focus beer hall. Yes, they serve basic bar snacks, which I've never tried, and often have a food truck available outside, but I like that it primarily stays focused on the beer. Less can absolutely be more and Kuhnhenn does it right.
While we've never had great service here, even sitting in the horseshoe around the taps, it's never been awful either. They could exercise a little Dale Carnegie and just be friendlier and perhaps quicker to suggest an offering.
I can't say that the beer is phenomenal but I will say it is very good. I've tried about a dozen different beers here and only found one that I didn't care for--a fruit based beer but I've determined that the style was good and that I don't enjoy fruit beers. The Penetration Porter and the Creme Brule Java Stout were very good but I think where Kuhnhenn really sets the mark is on their higher ABV brews. They pack a punch but anything they do with a bourbon barrel is stellar. I also think the Russian Imperial Stout, Solar Eclipse, and the Brown Ale, Double Nut Brown, are vastly underappreciated.
