It's amazing that a little out of the way place like Kuhnhenn's finds such a following. If this place was in Canada hardly anyone would know about it. Anyway stopped in on a quiet afternoon with plucier for lunch and few beer. Not much to this place, surprisingly small and I could see it getting packed very quickly on the weekends. The pricing comes close to gouging for what I found to be average beer. We had pints of the Creme Brulee (an amazing smelling beer) and the Oatmeal Stout. Both were a let down - overally sour and thin, especially for something that's on nitro. The pour for both of these pints had to set a record. I counted 8 growlers being filled in the time it took our beer to settle for the top up. Then we sampled the following:
The scotch ale and saison held some promise, but again nothing really grabbed me. I would say that opaque beers are definitely not their forte. The food selection was limited and the pizza we had was passable. Service was friendly. We left with bottles of the Eisbock, and at $10 a pop for a half bottle (187ml) this has to be one of the most overpriced beer I've had.
Yes going in my expectations were high, but I have to say this place was a let down on many levels and considering the amount they charge it is highly over rated in my opinion. Save your dollars for the other great local beer in Michigan.
As Chuck D was prone to saying - don't believe the hype.
