if Kuhnhenn's was in Connecticut, i would be broke. what an amazing place. a small brewery with an associated brew shop, Kuhnhenn's is a craft beer drinkers dream. dozens of different brews available on tap, plus more to go both in growlers or twelve ounce bottles. my girlfriend and i had a pint of the creme brulee java stout and mango tango panty dropper respectively, plus i got a bottle of the bourbon barrel aged barley wine, truly a huge variety. and all at reasonable prices, though the extreme beers are a bit more, they are worth it. the single 12oz of the Bourbon Barrel Aged Barley Wine was $5.

the service was great, friendly and swift, and they seen to know there stuff as they have little bios of the employees of the menu, and they all take turns making a brew.

everything has a weakness, Kuhnhenns has two. not much room, it wasnt a problem when i was there, but it could be at times, not enough to detract from its atmosphere score, and food. what they have is very good. just not a huge selection. not worth complaining about though, imho.

one cool thing, they also have gatherings where you can pay to brew your batch of beer. according to the menu you get about 10 12packs for a little over a dollar a bottle. what a great idea.

as i wrote in my review for one of their beers, if you visit eastern MI and do not visit Kuhnhenn's you are doing yourself a great disservice. enjoy

edit: unfortuantely, they no longer allow takeout of 12oz bottles. that sucks. being young, i cant afford to buy several growlers. if have to just try one beer at a time. i guess ill have to go to the pub more often and drink from tap. oh shucks!

Usually visit Kuhnhenn when I'm in metro Detroit.

A- Nice big U-shaped bar. Reasonable amount of high-top tables. Wood floors and brick walls. Warm and welcoming.

Q- Kuhnhenn's beers are a bit hit or miss to me, but when it's a hit, it's a grand slam. Creme Brulee stout, DRIPA, Braggot, 4th Dementia, Aldebaran, All Hallows Ale being a few of my favorites. They also have plenty of wines and meads for those who don't like beer.

S- They have table service here which is nice. When it gets really busy it can get hard to find a server but that can be accepted.

S- Always a variety of styles and ABVs to choose from. I've even been lucky enough to go in on Saturday afternoon in the summer and find BB4D on tap!

F- Kinda don't really know how to rate this one. They don't really do food apart from dried meats and cheeses but they are cool with people ordering delivery from local places or bringing stuff in. On special occasions they have some form of catering, and that has always been well done.

V- Reasonable, obviously the higher ABV and hopped stuff is more than sessionable things.

Come for the beer and great service.
Their motto is 'do your work here'. Offers free wifi.
Great craft beer selection with awesome variety, 16 on tap + wines + meads.
The Saison is one of the best I have had. The Loonie Kuhnie is their flagship beer and is a pale ale which is not too hoppy.
Awesome ambiance and smell of brewing upon entering door.
A must when visiting Detroit area for any beer enthusiast.
Food is snack food only. It's a brewery not a restaurant.
