I go here often, I thought maybe I should give them a review.

If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I would say: This is a very solid place to get some great beer on tap and in bottles, with great food, cool bartenders, and a good overall atmosphere.
*Just a tip, the beers on tap are very affordable Tuesday and Wednesday 5-7pm when they are all half price.

The guys at both Paradiso locations in DC (They just opened one in Old Town Alexandria I haven't been to) do a great job or themeing, mixing up, and overall keeping the quality high with their beers on tap. My one complaint there is that the beers all come out the same temperature, which for something like Founder's Breakfast Stout (when served way too cold) is not ideal. You can always count on at least 3-5 beers on tap at this or the other location that you are interested in or really like already.

Their bottle selection is really awesome at both places. Though expensive, they seem to have rare stuff you can't find at most or all other area bars, especially for me in the Three Floyds department. Awesome to be able to sit down and order off the menu Blackheart, Robert the Bruce, or whatever else. Also some things they have that are interesting include Cascade, Captain Lawrence, BFM, Mikkeller, etc. A solid bottle selection, they also have interesting stuff on the list and it comes out tasting right.

The food is great especially with beer. I love their thin crust, 'old country' style pizza and other Italian fare, and even the meat and cheese offerings are nice.

The bar is awesome when its not crowded cause you can really mingle with the bartenders who are very knowledgable and cool, but when corwded the place is just too small to hold everyone. Just got to get there early and hold your seats at the bar! The servers do what they can to get to you but when tons of people are trying to get stuff at a somewhat small bar, they gloss over sometimes.

Overall, a great place and one of my favorite bars in DC easily.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat and some good beer on a weekday. Sat at the bar.

Clean and upscale setting. Nothing pretentious, just nicely done. Good music. When I sat down they gave a small bowl of fancy olives. Quite tasty. Nice touch.

Bartender was attentive and knowledgeable. Not overly friendly, but that was fine.

I ordered a pizza. It came quite quickly. Very tasty.

Star of this show is the beer [as it should be]. Bottled beer menu is about 12 pages. Also had about 12 beers on tap. 1 cask ale was available, which is always impressive.

Overall, a very nice place to stop in for a bite to eat and some good beer.

Atmosphere: A fairly small place, a bit tight but nice. Low lighting, booths and a small bar.

Quality: Everything was on target.

Service: Fun waiter made us feel welcome even coming in close to closing. Very laid back, offered samples of anything we wanted to taste.

Selection: Tons of bottles, and an interesting 12 tap selection, a mix of American and other beers.

Food: Great pizza.

Highly recommended

Visited multiple times, always during lunch or late afternoon, with the latest being the one upon which this review is primarily based.

Overall a great place to drink beer, talk, work, eat. AVOID the front area in the afternoon as the sun shining in through the window is either very hot (summer) or just blinding (year round).

A - Great atmosphere for eating, talking, drinking casually, even "doing work." I quite often have a long lunch and read my journal articles. Clean, open, bright but not too much, can be a bit crowded table wise. Could definitely use a bigger bar. - 4.5

Q - Kegs rotate constantly. Not so sure about the bottles. They serve the beer in the appropriate glasses. - 4.25

Ser - Good service. A bar order can sometimes be a bit slow to the table. Appropriately attentive. - 4

Sel - The tap list is hit or miss. Go online either at their website or Beer Menus to get the latest - but not always up to date. Typically some good stuff on tap with the selection sometimes being over the top outstanding - just depends. Bottle list is extensive, but I ding them her for not having the Stone - Lucky Bastard when I ordered it (but still on the menu). - 4

F - Excellent food. The salads and pizzas are great. Somewhat limited menu. Though not advertised on the menu, ask for meat (look at the pizza menu) on your salad (if that is something you would like). - 4.5

V - $$$ - Food, but especially bottle beer ,can be a bit over the top price wise. Best value is on tap beer (duh!)

I visited this place on a recent trip to Washington. Good location which is quite central to most attraction in Washington. The food is great and made with soem very fresh ingredinets. The beer selection is quite extensive with great find on tap with great sampler tray which allows trying quite few beers from their huge selection. Service was great and patio is very enjoyable during those hot summer days. A must-stop if in DC.

I think if people were to ask me: "What is your favorite place in terms of atmosphere and convienience in the DC area to grab a beer?", I'd pick this place and this specific location.

Atmosphere: Once you exit the Metro at DuPont, head left, or if you come out on the other end, walk straight ahead, hit Connecticut Ave. Wine and Liquor, then head back to the circle, then right. Have I confused you yet?

Quality and Service: Service is always good. Don't worry about that. Quality: High quality establishment in terms of beer and food, that's why they're still in business.

Selection: Great beer selection! Also, they've been known to host "out of the market" beer events. For instance, they hosted an impromptu FFF dinner with Vanilla Bean Dark Lord as the featured attraction. Need I state more?

Food: The pizza is good, but not as good as Comet Ping Pong, Fireworks, and many others in the area. However, it's definitely serviceable.

Value: This is DC, and since it is such, plan to pay a bit more. Still, this is on-par with the area.

After hearing good things about this place, once my meetings in the Dupont Circle area ended I headed over for a pint or two. Very neat and clean exterior, and it continues inside. Bright from all the windows, old rustic brick, and loads of light colored wood make this place feel comfortable. Open kitchen in the back, and there was an outdoor seating area.

The bar is small as it can seat about 10. There is a beer list on the wall and on menus. There are about 5 well stocked refridgerators behind the bar allowing you to see all the selections too. There were 12 drafts covering many styles. Anchor Bock, La Chouffe, Hitachino Red Rice Ale, Rabid Duck, Mahajara, Breckenridge 471 IPA, and Stillwater Debutante names a few. The beers were fresh that I had.

Service was prompt and knowledgable. Price were a bit pricey but not overly so for the area. Since i had lunch a bit earlier I was not hungry, but the pizzas did look very good. Overall this was a very pleasant experience.
