These guys seem to be on the correct path, their beer & QC is way better than 2-3 years ago.
Pours an effervescent & ever so slightly hazed bronze with a pinky of ivory colored head. Good head retention & lacing
S: Over-ripe pears & golden delicious apples, a bit of persimmon too, plus peppery yeastyness
T: Follows the nose, a bit of white grape, green apple skin & faint tangerine. Faint cling peach flavor, then tangerine & orange blossom & even some grapefruit as this warms. Finishes with pears & potato skins (raw), green apple skin, white pepper & citrusy notes
MF: Medium bodied, slight carbonation. Carbonation picks up as it warms, skews hoppy, but works for me
Easy to drink despite the flaws, ABV is well hidden. I do suspect sessioning on this would hang you over to be sure

Thanks to sipdemsuds for this extra!
poured into duvel tulip.
Appearance: Opaque and hazy light golden yellow bodied beer with 2 fingers of bone white head resulting from a hard pour. Head drops down to a uneven cap of moderate sized soapy bubbles and filmy cap.
Smell: This beers nose is very yeast driven. Fruity yeast and fruit esters are all over the place in this beer. A generic citrusy zest that is also found in the nose, but its not as intense as the yeast notes. I also get alot of elements of bananas, clove, and bubblegum too. Its like Saison meets Hefeweizen as far as the nose goes. Interesting...I dig it though.
Taste: Right out of the bottle when its cold the beer is yeast driven just like the nose leads on. Fruity esters and lots of generalized yeasty flavors. Lite wheat malts. Little bit of a white pepper presence in the middle of the beer. Citrus zest that is more lemony than orangy. As the beer warms, it really transforms in a dynamic way towards sweet oranges and stronger wheat malt profile with a little less yeast influence than when the beer is cold. Really interesting brew and again I dig it.
Mouthfeel: low end of a medium bodied beer with lower carbonation levels that are not quite medium. As the beer warms up it starts to get a little boozy, but nothing that is off puting. When the beer is cold you would think its a session beer at 4% abv. Decent mouthfeel that is slightly watery. Good drinkability though.
Overall: I really enjoy any beer that is brewed with oranges. I wanted more orange flavor from this saison, but overall its was still good. This is my first beer from Battered Boar and I gotta say that I am a fan of this brewery. If they rebrew this beer...its gotta have more oranges and a little more carbonation. I would crush this bomber on a hot summer day and I would drink this again if given the oppurtunity!
