The beer pours a dark brown color with red highlights and a small cream-colored head. The aroma is full of caramel and dark fruit, with a good dose of alcohol mixed in. There is also a hint of chocolate in the aroma. The flavor has a little bit of peat smoke, with a good amount of toffee and caramel. I get a little dark fruit but the malt and smoke notes come through the strongest. There is also a little bit of alcohol in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bumped up a few scores & knocked down mouth feel a bit. Peaty nose & flavor a little more to the front , mouth feel a bit thinner

Cheers to biergartenok for this!

Didn't gush upon opening, an improvement on many previous bottles from this brewery...

Pours an effervescent mahogany with a sliver of cream colored head. Near zero head retention & even less lacing

S: Dark fruit, brown bread

T: Figs, caramel, brown bread & raisins, very faint smokeyness up front. Dryness & smokeyness are more prominent as this warms, along with figs & other jammy notes & boozeyness. Finishes smokey, dry & way too fruitty

MF: Medium bodied, faint carbonation, sticky as this warms

Not a great Scotch Ale, but drinkable enough & a niche not really filled by any local/in-state brewers. Just a touch too fruitty for the style

A - An aggressive pour yields a cola colored brown body with a tight-knit creamed head that forms a dense collar and retains pretty well.

S - Heavy caramel, toffee and a good dose of chocolate. Hints of wood, mushrooms, and earthy peat. Acidic grapes and some alcohol come out when swirled.

T - Thin dark caramel, raw brown sugar, cocoa powder, some tart artificial fruit flavor becomes more pronounces as it warms up. Has a sugary boozy finish.

M - Lighter body for the style, low carbonation, wet boozy finish.

Started off good with the appearance and aroma but the flavor was less than impressive. Too much raw sweetness and the flavors didn't seem to meld together. The alcohol just stood out like a sore thumb while some of the ingredients seemed artificial. This only became worse as it warmed.
