App: White head, clear coors body, minimal head retention and no lacing.

Nose: Wheat, malt, crisp malt, rice vinegar, banana.

Taste: Nice mouthfeel, clean, refreshing, a little watery, saltine crackers.

Notes: A fairly decent pilsner for a great price. If you have to drink something like Coors Light and can have this instead, give this a try.

Another cheap Trader Joe's purchase. Can popped with no fizz and it only poured a 1.5" white head with medium lifespan. The body is a clear straw yellow and all the carbonation exhausted into the small head. It smells of malt, grass, and actually butterscotch. The taste though is much weaker than the smell and instead of the butterscotch you mainly get bitter grass.

16oz can into Pilsener style tasting glass.
A: A very lively carbonation is shown in the clear straw colored body. The white head pours a good formation, but does not last to long and retreats to a very thin layer.

S: A very light bready aroma of pilsen malts is found, but very one dimensional and somewhat bland.

T/M: The overall taste is light and low, with underling flavors of noble hops and a stale malt backbone. Lingering flavors a minimal at best.

D: The drinkablity of this beer is fairly high, but the overall character is not too impressive.

Consumed 11/13/2009- from notes.

Green 12oz bottle poured into a shaker glass.

A- A washed out gold toppped off with about a finger and a half tight bubbled white head that lasted longer than I expected. Mildly carbination, some lacing.

S- Not much at all. Very faint grassy/skunky smell.

T- A little floral/grassy with a little hint of citrus. As somebody else mentioned it got a little skunky but that went away by the end.

M- Thicker than I expected for a pils, medium bodied. A little carbination tingle.

D- Once you get past the skunk its pretty drinkable. Might make a decent session brew if nothing else was available.

12oz green bottle.

Euro Pilsners are not my beer style of choice, so I approached this one with skepticism and my expectations were exceeded.

German and Czech Pilsners have a certain hop bitter aroma that's not my thing, and this one had the aroma but the taste seemed to turn sweeter in the finish rather than more bitter. That's a plus.

This is an easy drinker. I poured mine hard into a stange glass and it created a niced white head that lasted and left lacing on the glass.

Not bad.

Poured into a pilsener glass. Clear light gold color with dozens of bubble columns feeding the white 2 finger head. Aroma is corny adjunct with little to no hops. Taste is of malt husk and adjuncts, but not as vile as most American macros. Quite refreshing and smooth. Great beer for a hot day.

Poured out to a light straw with a one-finger head that subsided slowly. Nothing special here.

The smell is of light floral hops, and a bit of malt. Very faint. Detected a bit of skunk too.

For a Pils, this beer is maltier, which I find pleasing. Nice and bready, not bad at all.

The mouthfeel is OK, but it's really nothing special. A bit too much carbonation for my taste.

This is a very drinkable beer, however.

A refreshing, tasty beer. Not bad at all.

A- Clear golden yellow with a white head and quick disappearing lacing.

S- Skunkey with a very slight citrus smell

T/M – Bitter and skunkey, not as smooth as I have had in the past.

D- Had this beer before in a can and it was not too bad. This time around in a bottle it defiantly had a stronger skunk smell was not as drinkable with a slightly bitter taste to it. Not sure if it was just a dab bottle

A: Poured a nice golden yellow into a pils glass. Nice ~1.5 finger head with light lace.
S: Light floral with a hint of citrus. Very very light skunk. I made sure from purchase that this beer didn't see any light while in my possesion.
T: Where did the hops go? Pretty malty/grainy. Weak hops at best.
M: Good amount of carbonation; I thought the malty taste was matched well with its mouthfeel.
D: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way for this one, though. No complaints.

12oz. bottle

Pours a crystal clear pale straw color with a small white had that fades. Mild lacing on the glass.

Rather zesy hop aroma with a mild "skunkiness" that I've come to expect and rather enjoy in an import pils. Crisp.

Light maltiness, not as crisp as the aroma leads on. Hop flavor is also more subdued than the smell would have you believe. Finishes with a mild bitterness that lingers a bit.

Light body, medium carbonation.

Overall, an average import pils. Easily drinkable, this would be a refreshing beer to slug down on a hot day. But, there certainly better pils to be had. If only the taste held up to the smell, this would be tip-top....

Poured from a 12oz. bottle, into a pint glass. The beer poured a clear straw, forming a 1 inch head, that faded quickly, but leaving thick rings of lace on the glass. The aroma is mostly skunky, with a slighty citrus smell. The taste is a little grainy, but with enough sweet hop flavor, to keep it above the others of this style. Light mouthfeel. Overall, just another German style pilsner. Better than a few others that I've tried, but nothing I would go out of my way for.

12oz green bottle with a date code of L0416 12:33 whatever that is. Almost no lacing or head retention

Pours an effervescent honey gold with 2+ fingers of fluffed up white head.

S: A little floral hops & sopayness

T: Swet malt & some floral hops. Soapy hop taste follows along with some diathechyl/butterscotch & grainyness. Finishes dry, a litle fruitry & grainyness

MF: Almost medium bodied with moderate carbonation & okay balance, a little grittyness from the grainyness

This just an average drinker, wasn't expecting much & that's about what I got, a ho-hum pils. Beter than BMC but nothing to rwrite home about

Pours out a crystal-clear dull-gold color. Nice head and lacing. Sweet, grainy malt nose. Sweet malt, likewise, is the dominant flavor, with but a small touch of bitterness and no discernable hop flavor. Finishes clean and neutral. Light bodied.

Very pedestrian pils. Not recommended.

This beer pours a light straw yellow, with a thin white head. The head fades fast, leaving very few laces.

This beer has a slight citrus hop aroma. It has a slight skunk aroma, but that might be due to the fact that it is bottled in a green bottle.

This beer tastes more malty than I would have though. It has a light caramel sweet flavor. The floral, citrus hops are present, but mild. The skunkyness that was present in the aroma is not present in the flavor. It tastes better than I expected.

This beer is crisl and light. It goes down smooth, leaving a floral aftertaste.

This beer might make a good session beer. It is not aggressive, and it is probably relatively low in alcohol. I doubt I will have it again, but it was good to try.

It pours a great looking classic pils pale straw. Its just slightly hazy. The head is large and hanging on impressively for a pilsner but shows minimal lacing.

The nose is great for a pilsner. Musty hop luplin, sugary light malt, perhaps rice, and just a whif of that sulfer.

Taste starts watery then goes pretty metalic with to grassy-sweet with just a tinge of bitter at the end. I read a few of other reviews and I think folks are being too hard on this beer. It's no masterpiece but I've had worse.

A few minutes later...nevermind, I can't even finish this. There are some serious mouthfeel issues here. Every next sip is increasingly stingy and astringent. Almost like the tounge is being electrocuted. Seriously, what the hell.

Pale yellow color, highly filtered clear, huge carbonation, white fizzy head that exits quickly.

Skunk ass smell. This is like heineken except with no malt profile and slightly worse. Huge grain, adjunct, scotch bloom weedy taste. Malts are emberassed by the overpowering grass, weed body. Finishes wet and never ever cleanses that nasT crap.
Where are the saaz hops...or anything to wash this away?

Good god this is some rank stuff!

Peter's Brand has the typical golden straw color of a lot of the mass-produced beers from Holland. Head is average-sized and somewhat sticky and carbonation is above average. The aroma is initially a belt of skunkiness, which is followed by the smell of sweet grains. The taste is of sweet grains with just a bit of skunk flavor that mixes in primarily because of smell. This is tasty enough, about on par for macro beers from Holland, and works well for the low price.

02/24/05- Purchased at Trader Joe's in San Francisco, CA

Presentation- 12oz bottle with a code on the back label. Poured into my Radeberger pils glass.

Appearance- For a pils, this is about as perfectas you can get. Golden yellow color, bit fat white creamy head and excellent lacing.

Smell- Well, I guess we can't give 5's all the way down, much less 4's or 3's. This one had a heavy pils scent with a big puff of skunk that came out as soon as you opened the cap. Kinda smelled like a bad saison.

Taste- Considering the smell, I was a bit scared to even touch my lips to this one. Not bad, not good, but about your average tasting pils. Hits you with the malt and grain and then dies out.

Mouthfeel- Nice average carbonation.

Drinkability- The scent kinda ruined it for this brew. If it wasn't for that, it would be a semi-decent fallback pils. I guess if you plugged your nose it would be OK.

Pours an absolutely crystal-clear deep-golden body that reveals hundreds of average-sized bubbled rising steadily beneath a long-lasting head of creamy bright-white foam that holds quite well and leaves excellent lacing about the glass. The aroma offers a soft grainy maltiness and a mildly skunked herbal hoppiness. The body is medium with a fine-bubbled carbonation that's crisp on the tongue. The flavor delivers exactly what the nose promises with its sweetish grainy malt base and grassy, herbal and floral hops perfectly balanced by a solid bitterness. (It's less bitter than Heineken, and most German pilseners as well). It finishes dry and refreshing with a lingering swirl of hops that begs you to have another swallow. Very well done; and exceptional at the low price point it's sold at!

12 Oz green bottle form a "Beers of the World" collection. Pours a transparent medium gold color with a moderate amount of carbonation. Not bad looking, but not anything special either. Aroma is hoppy, sharp, and a little sour. The flavor is a little better than the aroma, with a nice hop bite at the end. Flavor is clean to the the point of tasting very processed. My thought when drinking this was that it was Heineken's little brother. Not great, but not terrible either.

This "Dutch" Pilsener pours a shiny gold with a pure white head and some sticky lace. A faint malt aroma melds with cut hay and a hint of mint. The malt is somewhat grassy, herbal, and again, minty. The hops are fairly metallic and a bit citrusy. The flavors are separate at first but blend and balance as the malt sweetness develops. This isn't a bad session-type beer.

Pours a medium amber color with a foamy white head with abnormally large bubbles that fades into a sticky lace. Nose is sweet malt and a bit of skunk. Taste is about the same, though the skunkiness is more pronounced than in the aroma. Given a choice between this and a Heineken, I’d take the Heineken (not that I’d be real happy about that either).

Voluminous, pure white head that faded quickly, but did not disappear. Light to medium gold coloring that is crystal clear. Yeasty aroma that faded with the head. Decent lacing. Very mild flavor with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Aftertaste was surprisingly longlasting yet very delicate. Just average all around. Not hateful; not impressive. Could probably drink all day, but wonder why. Maybe the ladies would like this one.

Medium golden color with a creamy, half-inch snow-white head, lots of irregular lace rings; massive streams of bubbles continually renew the head. Aroma has a very pronounced skunk quality, perhaps the strongest I have ever experienced. When I uncapped the bottle, my cat took a whiff and rapidly backed away. Some white bread aromas can be detected beneath the skunk odor. Taste begins with a sweet malt flavor and a sting of carbonation, at the tail end of the taste some oily hop bitterness appears. Finish is crisp and dry. A visually striking beer, if its taste were equal to its appearance, it would be a world class Pilsener.

Golden hue with a very limited and underdeveloped head, no retention and no lace. The nose wasn't exactly skunky but more like old, wet grains and musty cream. It is tolerable... fairly neutral actually. The palate was very light, simple with a creamy-hay and spice mixture; it was respectable. I wouldn't go out of my way to drink this again, but I did like it (to some degree). Hell, give it a try.
