I think this brewery is quite new on the scene. I already tried the Cascade IPA from them and like it (mmmm cascade hop!) so I was enthusiasm to try another product from them and this one does not disapoint. This one is something else but check this out :

A : Nice amber brown color with red reflections. White foam vanishing quickly.

S : Great! I am not saying it is the same smell, but it is the same feeling as when you smell fresh bred. You take a deep breath and know it is right! You can smell the honesty of the malt. Not so complex but it smell good heavy malt, biscuit like. The malt is really the dominent aroma. Curiously just by the smell you can tell they are using quality ingredients.

T : Delivering the merchandise! All that malt that you snifted earlier, it is now yours to taste and it is really good. A small hint of bitterness in the end to balance everything and you already want to take another sip.

M : Between thin and medium. Nice fine bubles help the taste explode your taste buds. I would be interested in trying a cask version if ever avaible.

D : Great ale! Nice honest beer for those times when you just want to enjoy life. A good alternative to macros because it goes down easily but it tastes way better!

I heard you can go pick up a crate of 24 directly at the brewery during week-ends. I defenitely have to go get some. With winter coming this is gonna be a great go to beer for just anyday. Good after mountain beer may be.

Bottle from Marche Atwater. A nicely drinkable beer, although way strong carbonation. Pours soulfree brown (quotable) with a fancy creamy off-white head. Malty aroma, and rich malt taste, a little fruity. Some pepper. 34 IBU is there. Darn that carbonation.

A- Clear reddish copper. Very nice color. Big light-beige head with average retention.

S- Cream soda(vanilla, marshamallow), caramel, metallic burnt grain and alcohol. A bit of cardboard. Lingonberry as it warmed.

T- Better than what I detected in the smell. A little roastiness. Cracker finish. After-taste isa bit cardboard like. The initial flavour is quite simple. Simple malt I guess... but it all gets dirty towards the finish.6.8%Abv very well hidden.

M- Medium, body, carbonation, mouthfeel and dryness.

O- Kind of a dirty beer. Okay drink but not a beer you crave.

Pours a translucent woody-amber with an airy off-white head, fading to a thin cover. Almost no lacing and the retention could be better, but the colour is great.

Sweet malty nose. Toffee, brittle, light molasses, candy...mostly just a great caramel malty smell, like a dessert. I'd give this a 4.5 if it was more potent, it definitely smells awesome.

The flavour is quite a bit different than I was expecting from the smell. I was hoping for a malt bomb but it isn't really. The smell is all malt but I'd say the taste features hops even a little ahead of malt. I'd prefer a bit more of a malty base. Wheat, light caramel (especially given the nose), earthy hops, minrerals. It's not a complex beer but does have character. Drying finish with a hint of sweetness and very smooth for its ABV (none present). I'd like if the flavour was concentrated a little but as is it's still pretty alright.

Decent medium body and light carbonation. A bigger body would benefit this beer.

I like this beer, even if it's nothing special. A little hot to session at 6.8% but I could see myself putting away a few of these pretty easily. Brasseurs Illimités are showing themselves to be a solid brewery and I look forward to more releases from them in the future.

The beer color is similar to caramel, dark caramel to be more precise. The head is almost inexistent on this one. My pours was too gently... It would gain to have more head IMO.

The aroma is caramel malts... mmmm I like it. The taste is awesome. I would say it is slightly complex and not just plain simple. I really dig this type of beer. Dry on the finish. The beer stays in the mouth quite a long time. Nice!!

If offered I would pass it... and I will surely buy more in the future. Not a bad beer for everyday.

a: big eggshell head, high retention, the beer a deep amber color

s: papery noble hops, tealike malt body, a bit spicy with some darker fruit skins

m: carbonation light-moderate, medium body

t: toasty-sweet malts with a somewhat disruptive sour note coming into the finish, tea and wood, drying, plum skin, meh

d: not great, not bad, interestingly unusual but not something I'll look for again

A: Bronze pour, rather dark... Topped with a little over a finger of head, quite fizzly but almost semi-creamy, as well. Retains alright, leaving scattered lace patterns.

S: Malts, full of caramel and slightly honey-like and ripe fruit peel qualities.

T: Sweet, some dark fruit (plum-like) notes, paired with a tart, almost sour and acrid note. Malts smooth out any acidity it may have, making for a decent tasting brew.

M + D: Medium bodied, shimmering carbonation. Pretty straight forward and enjoyable mouthfeel. There's a noted alcohol warmth, and a spot of it in flavour... Best suited for paced drinking.

Burgundy in color with some shy striking hues.

Very shy lacy head that stays the course of the race.

Smell is little fruits with a hoppy fruity ester, banana, apples and toffee come in to play.

taste is malty at first, but very shy with a shy touch of dry hoppy feel. Small fruits and banana esters are present with a little taste of alcohol in the making, all of it rounded in what seems to be a smooth carbonated sugary and sweet body.

Enjoyed this last night.

Poured from a 341ml. bottle.

Appearance: A nice chestnut brown body with a thick, slightly tan head. When i hold the glass to the light, i can see a little bit through it and i also notice it's good like a cherry wood color to it.

Smell: A bit reserved but i definitely get some hops, dry nuts and herbs. Has a dirty feel to it.

Taste: Astringent a little. A good hops presence that's a little on the dry side. A little bit of malt but the bitterness is definitely the winner here. Has an earthen feel to it.

Mouthfeel: Carbonation is quite alive for sure. This beer has an edge to it. It's fairly well balanced but it does stradle the line between smooth and coarse though it seems to lean a little to the coarse side. Evens out a little as it warms.

Drinkability: A good one as i found myself drinking it quite easily. That said, i think this is more of an occasional beer rather than an everyday one for me.

Overall: I found it a little rough around the edges. Maybe time will help to smooth it out. It is still a good beer and it's refreshing to see a style that's underepresented here in Quebec but i think i prefered his first alt @ Bieropholie.

12oz Bottle

Appearance - The beer pours a murky red/amber/brown colour with a small fizzy off white head. I can't make out much carbonation due to the murkiness of the beer. There is some faint lacing on the sides of the glass. The head stuck around for only a few minutes before it was gone.

Smell - malts, breads/grains, alcohol, light hops

Taste & Mouth - The beer has a nice mouth feel, there is a slightly above average amount of carbonation. The most noticeable flavours are the malts, and the breads/grains. It also has a mild butter/caramel taste to it. I can also pick up on the alcohol in this beer. It finishes with a malty slight metallic aftertaste.

Drink - An interesting beer with a different taste. I'm on the fence with this one... worth a try though.

12oz bottle. sampled march 2/2011.

pours a reddish brown with a nice dense light white head. the head drops fairly fast and leaves spotty lace.

aroma is nice. Fruity character.

taste is nice. toasted whole wheat bread. light alcohol. bit of earthy and herbal character. light toffee. bit of butterscotch. medium-low bitterness level - seems a bit high for the style. slightly fruity.

mouthfeel is pretty good. medium body. medium carbonation level.

drinkability is nice. a little more bitter than it should be, but fairly well balanced. seems to be lacking a little in depth. fairly nice overall though.

A: Red to copper. 2 finger white gorgeous head. Creamy and pillowy. Crystal clear and nicely carbonated. Lacing everywhere.

S: Big sugary malt, caramel, cola, no hop presence, some cream, German yeast. Lack of hop aromas.

T: Eww, odd as hell. It's the most mismatched oddity in flavor. Caramel, sweet, floral, dank hops that are odd and off flavored. Also a slight sourness is in the beer. Big sweet malt notes. Gross.

M: Overly sweet. Missed the styles need to be dry. The finish is sweet and almost wort like in flavor.

O: The appearance and aroma are great. The flavor profile and mouthfeel are terrible. Needs work.

Impressive rising beige head. Slow to recede; a bit lumpy. The color of the broth is deep, ruby amber (or light brown, if you prefer). Hard to tell, but there may be a bit of a haze--light passes easily through the center.

Caramel and crystal malt aromas.

More of a hop bite than I expected. Still this leans to the malty side. Full bodied and lowly carbonated makes for a rich beer. The aftertaste reminds me of smoke.

Dated: NA
From: ZorPrime, 341 ml

A: Dark hazy body with one finger of light mocha head. Poor retention and minimal lacing

S: Figs mixed with malts and caramel. Subtle and balanced notes on the nose

T: Much like the aroma, caramel like malts and figs dominate. Somewhat hoppy and spicy. Reminds me of a lighter barleywine.

M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Smooth creamy body with a carbonation 'bite'. Leaves a pleasant malty aftertaste. No alcohol notes here.

D: Thanks again ZorPrime. This is an interesting beer - first of the style too. Nice textures and flavours. A smooth barleywine is what I need!

12 oz bottle, picked up at Peluso.

Pours a lightly hazed dark orange brown, medium sized light tan head forms and settles down to a thin ring around the glass, some lace spots stick, looks alright but some clarity would be nice.

Smell is nice, very malty, lots of caramel and some biscuit, brown sugar, raisin, some dark fruit, almost a perfumy/floral aroma, very bready and rich, light alcohol, smells pretty nice.

Taste is a little weird, slightly sweet/sour, orange, some caramel and biscuit, lightly bready, a bit sugary, raisin and some dark fruit, a bit of fruity sourness, neat finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, pretty thick, low carbonation, decently drinkable but the light sourness is a little offputting.
