Blue Star Brewery is part of the larger Blue Star Arts Complex. It also shares space with a bike shop. This lends itself to a cool, laid back vibe which tends to hipster.
They always have a handful of regular selections on tap, many of which share a slightly bready quality to me, at least the IPA, Pale Ale and Raspberry Wheat did. In addition to their session brews they seem to always have a barleywine on tap as well as another rotating brew.
Service has been par-the-course, though it can be better depending if the server is feeling frisky.
The food hasn't been very impressive. The chicken friend steak was greasy and tough and the hamburger was more bun than burger. They have a nice selection, it just lacks in execution. As such, they seem pricey.
I generally stop when I'm in the area. but I don't go out of my way to make it there.

Great place to meet and get primed before going to watch THE WORLD CHAMPIONS OF THE NBA.. THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS.! The atmosphere is casual and the crowd is laid back. This place is in the heart of the art district and historic downtown SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS.

A very beer-centric brewpub. Nine beers on tap, including two exceptional sours, as well as a cask version of their pale ale. The venue has a good size bar but too few stools .. so plenty of room to spread out or stand.
Food was modestly better than average, with the brisket being the best thing we tried.
Service was better than average, and much more knowledgeable than average.
Brewing operations in full view, along with some hanging bicycles. Adequate free parking.
