Sampled at Thompsons in Salem.
This one looks really good. Deep copper colour under a full white head. The smell disapoints. Nothing more than a whisp of grain. That carries into the taste where it is met by a subtle fruitiness that puts a smile on my face.
Hops come to play at the end finishing this one up nicely. Light on the palate and very drinkable.

Appearance: nice caramel brown color, a lackluster head and thinly stretched lacing.
Smell: (hard to pick at the bar) but I noticed a sweet, candied malt smell as the most prominent. Seemed fitting for how it looked in the glass
Taste: fairly sweet for an ESB. No real bitterness to mention, I should mention, however, a nice hop presence at the end...very mellow though. I like this beer, a great drinker. This is the first McMenamin brew I have had and it's a good one at that
Mouthfeel: All around medium bodied and smooth. I like the way it sits on the tongue. Solid!
Unique for a ESB reminded me more a amber ale than anything, but good none the less.

Ok second beer I tasted at Thompsons last night review from notes of course .
Pretty looking ESB slight haze copper coloured brew..tiny head doesnt last..some nice lacing.
Like most McMenamins beer the aroma is not impressive ( its not bad..just very subdued)Could smell some faint malts..maybe some spicy hops but not much.
A quite tasty ESB..smooth and sweet to start then a good hop bitterness at the end,,good aftertaste.
Nice and smooth on the palate.
A very good session beer ( I had 4 in quick succsession)..I liked it a lot a nice American rendition of an ESB.

First had: on tap at McMenamins Pub, Mill Creek, WA
Poured a clear amber with a small white head. Light, simple aroma of malts and grains. Taste of sweet caramel malts, and a balancing bitter hop bite. A pretty average ESB with not too much to write home about. Still decent though. Medium mouthfeel and pretty drinkable.

Had this at Kennedy School while taking in a movie. Pizza was good, and this beer was an excellent match. Poured a nice hazy copper, slightly deeper though, almost tarnished. Plenty of foam on top than is drawn into the mustache, making a mess. Aroma is slight, partly due to the abundant foam, but of fresh hops and sweet maltiness.
Taste is of substantial balance between nice bitterness and sweet malty goodness. Nearly british in its delivery with just a tad more effervescence to remind that its a new world brew. Drinks very easily, and compliments the food.

Best beer they make.
Wish they made it all year long. Not as bitter as they're Nebraska, but definetly outranks their ipa. Can be found at most mcmenimins in the fall.
Goes well with fries.
Not a very good head.
Citrus base. Hoppy back.
