Somewhat of a Guinness clone with a slightly nutty taste. It has the trademark Guinness sourness. Always seen on the nitro tap, if you like Irish Stouts on nitros, you'll like this one.

Brewer says this is made with several kinds of roasted malt plus flaked barley. Hops are reported to be Nugget and U.S. Goldings with an IBU of 38. Impeccable creamy head on a truly black beer. Some pleasant grainy chocolate aromas.

Dry sensation, lots of burnt malt, with a hint of caramel and roasted flavors. Taste is a lot like the industrial stouts like Murphy's. Quite a pleasant quaff for the low alcohol. Not a winner, exactly, but it's a better imitatio of Irish stouts than most.

I had to have another go at this one and this time around nitro-tapped

A: dark rusty black color, massive head and lacing was ring upon ring of dense mocha colored foam. Overall presentation was spot on

S: grains, feeble stale coffee, touch of chocolate sweets

M: mostly barely and light malts. I pick up on breads, dark chocolate, coffee, and delicate dark fruits all very faint but present with slight hop bitterness

M: very soft and mellow, very pleasing! Creamy and super slick

D: yes, very drinkable and inviting

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day comes this dry Irish stout from the Brothers McMenamin. Curiously named “Dry Irish Stout”, this coal-black beer is served on nitro with a compressed camelhair head and a slight bready aroma. It is characteristically clean and mild mannered with a satisfying mix of dry, creamy, and lightly roasted elements. A distant thread of powdered cocoa accents the finish.

This is a worthy tribute to the legacies of Murphy’s and Beamish and delivers considerable sustain with the last sips going down as agreeably as the first. A dry session stout that’s very easy to drink. Listed at 3.7% ABV.

McMenamins Dry Irish Stout was served on nitro, at thier Raliegh Hills pub. It was black in color with some reddish-brown accents peeking through at the edges of the glass. A thin fine tan head quickly receded into a ring. The nose was rather subtle, with notes of dry cocoa and lightly roasted coffee. This stout was creamy, smooth, and mild, with a dry cocoa and coffee base and an well-rounded dark chocolate bitterness thoughout. This was an easy drinking beer that went well with pub fare. A well done example of the style.

I recently had the Kennedy School's offering of Irish Stout. It was a very good representation of an Irish Stout. The color was a very dark brown with some deep amber foam, and the smell was somewhat muted, though very suggesting of its roasted ingredients.

The taste was very nice, subtle bitterness, and a very dry mouth feel that is associated with stouts. The brewers at the Kennedy School get it spot on.
