Poured from the 12 oz brown bottle into my straight sided glass tumbler. Appearance is an amber color, right for the variety. Very little smell, of corn, no hop aroma. Taste is mainly malt and corn. Mouthfeel is light, with very little aftertaste. One could drink a few of these, if it was hot and you had just finished working out in the yard.

Just a thought,

Moe might consider keeping this beer in the back room.

The color was spot on to what I would expect of an amber, but slight head.

There was a lack of smell to this brew, I was expecting more.

The taste is below average. Just not a lot going on here a slight off after taste. Again I was expecting more.

The mouthfeel is ok, but taste is where this beer wins my repeat business.

Would be a good beer to chug or put in a beer bong, but I really want to savor a beer, and this one is not it.

Nice high head but fizzled quickly. No strong smell. The color was close to perfect, exactly what I think amber should look like. After seeing the awesome color in the glass I was dissapointed with the flavor, or lack of. This is a decent beer, no problems with it. I think I'll have another just to be sure.

Light copper amber hue with a briht white head froming nice even lacing. Aroma has a very grainy earthy herbal hop character underneath caramelized malts. Super fruity apple juice and tart cherry notes way too sweet for me like unfermented malts here way to harsh on the palate. I can't believe this is at every Kroger in my area. Flavor is super sweet with a tart juicy flavor it's got apple juice lik notes tastes like a fourty intead of a macro ale or lager. Fizzy cabonation not the best stuff, very fogrettable light to medium carbonation with thick residual sugar notes throughout. You couldn't pay me to pick more of this stuff up.

Ya know...this beer isn't all that bad. Is it going to win any awards? not even close. But if you are looking for a cheap beer that is great for a BBQ then is far better than packing the cooler with (god forbid) bud/miller or any of the others that pretend to pose a beer. I am not saying you should rush out and buy a sixer, but...if in a pinch, and you don't want to spend your hard earned duckets....then this beer is not a bad option.

Picked up a single from Chip's Wine and Beer in NC. This tastes like a beer from a macro brewer and reminds me a bit of Yuengling's Lord Chersterfield. There's a mild caramel note that's sweet before the beer finishes dry. But there's also an unpleasant vegetable note, that remind me of cheap beer. I'd avoid this one. It's not cheap or very good. At least it looks decent.

If you are looking for a traditional amber, you will probably be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a drinkable, slightly sweet beer, I highly recommend this. There isn't a hint of bitterness, so if you are the type of beer drinker that avoids pale ales, you will probably enjoy this one.

Thanks to Travita for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. Not sure how an amber ale is yellow in color, but I guess I can overlook that. The aroma is corn and biscuit malt. The flavor is a mix of corn and some malt. No real hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. I can overlook the color, but not the terrible flavor or aroma. Avoid this one unless you just have to have the rating.

A - standard amber coloring

S - a bit on the lighter side - nothing really popped out

T - your average ale taste, slightly sweeter than expected

M - refreshing and easy

D - yes and will do so again. I think it is the slight sweetness that got to me (that and it was 97 so this beer just got to me).

Another good refresher after coming in from the heat. Not overpowering or too strong in any one flavor so I would buy it again during the hotter months.

A: nice amber color but still fairly clear. It did have a nice fluffy white head though.

S: Nothing I could really get, pretty lacking in this department.

T: Bland, bland, bland. A little bit of caramel and fruity sweetness but nothing to get my attention at all.

M: Sweet and sticky, almost like drinking a pop in terms of feel and carbonation.

D: Easy to drink, but why would you want to because its nothing I would even drive down the street to get.

The overall lacking of this beer has to do with this short review.

What the hell did I just drink?? The best thing about this was the color. Aside from that it was thin and uninteresting. Lean in flavor and complexity. Some malt, some hop, but not enough to warrant a revisit. I gave it to my yellow beer drinking neighbor.

Pour is thin and produces coarse head that quickly dissipates to nothing. The color is a coppery amber, kinda standard for an amber ale.

Aroma is nothing impressive. It has a distinct adjunct character to it with lots of graininess to it. There is a weak caramel aroma as well.

Pretty similar to the taste. There is a big grainy malt profile, but there is also an artificial sweetness to it that really just doesn't hit the mark. It ends up tasting a bit tinny.

Smooth and easy to drink, the flavors are just off the mark and a little too macro-like for my taste at this point. I think I will probably use the rest of these for cooking bratwurst.

Presentation: Served in a pilsner glass.

A- Amber color, and clear. ~3 finger of white head, which fades very slowly into a thin cap. Ample lacing.

S- Quite weak....light hints of bready maltiness.

T- Lightly sweet caramel. A touch of hoppy bitterness, but no defining flavor to be had. Nothing to get excited about.

M- Moderately high carbonation. Slightly fuller feel than expected, and goes down smoothly and easily.

D- Decent. Despite it's fairly mundane nature, this is a fairly easy drinker- not flavorful enough to really hold your attention or make you want to go back for more, but an acceptable thirst quenching ADS.

Future outlook: Not terrible or undrinkable, but no compelling reason to ever seek out.

Pours an amber color with little to no head or lacing.

Smells predominantly of adjuncts and oddly...apples, not good.

This has a thin mouthfeel with medium carbonation. The taste is malty with an offtasting adjunct flavor in the finish. Also mixed with the adjunct finish is a metallic bitterness. Little or no hops to speak of. This just has that macro sour coating it leaves in your mouth, throat and stomach.

Thin, sweet and offtasting would be the three words to describe this beer.
This is a very poor attempt at an amber ale, I wouldn't drink this again if it was free.

Poured from a 12-oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a clear apple juice color with a moderate amount of carbonation that helps up a small, thin head of off-white foam that quickly dissipates, leaving a minimal amount of lacing.

Nothing special going on in the smell department; the slightest amount of apples and caramel malt, but you have to search for it.

The taste follows the nose down the path of mediocrity. While the flavors are good, there just isnt' a lot of complexity or robustness to them. This beer actually tastes a little like apple juice; you can taste the apples, followed by a slight amount of bready and caramel malt and an even lighter amount of spicy hops (almost nonexistent). A bit of an adjunct flavor follows at the tail end of each swig. This is like a light Amber Ale.

Pretty thin mouthfeel with a moderate amount of carbonation. A bit watery.

All told, I'd like this beer to be a bit more flavorful and robust, and City Brewing might have a solid session beer. Right now, the beer is pretty drinkable, but only in a setting where you're not concentrating on the flavors of your beer and more of what goes on around you, i.e. out with friends at a bar. All told, this beer just needs more to it.

Pours a rather typical, but still appealing, clear amber with a decent white head. Aroma is malty with hints of yeast and fruit. Flavor is malty and slightly fruity, with just a whisper of sweetness - nothing to write home about, but still enjoyable. Texture is pleasingly smooth and rather fizzy. Overall, not too shabby.

I should have listened to the reviews on this site. This beer is absolutely disgusting. No flavor, no personality. It's like drinking water. I wouldn't bother with this one, there are plenty of other pale ales out there that taste better.

Stay away from Tap Room 21.

A bit weak for an amber.

It has a lighter than expected color to it, not quite as dark as i would like.
Smells of the alcohol and not much of the beer.
Tastes spicy, a bit smoky maybe but not strong.
Carbonation is average. I would rather have a shiner :).

I would probably not buy this again.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a nonic imperial pint glass.

Appearance: Amber-colored and translucent. A thin fizzy head dissipates quickly and leaves absolutely no lacing.

Smell: Kind of malty with a hint of corn in the background. Honestly smells like a maltier macro lager. Weird...

Taste: Very little taste that doesn't linger at all. What taste there is is just a little sweetness with a hint of maltiness. Almost no hop tastes at all.

Mouthfeel: Thin and over-carbonated.

Drinkability: Go elsewhere! This beer is not worth it in any way, shape, or form. I was really disappointed in this one.

Poured from 12oz bottle into nonic pint glass.

Appearance: Looks more like a pale ale- a darker straw color with only a hint of amber to it. Two finger white head, dissipates slowly with a nice lacing.

Smell: Mild aroma. Sweet malt with hints of grain and grassiness. Expected a lot more in this area.

Taste: Sweet through and through, but it's a weird corn-glucose sweetness. The taste of this is so odd, I can barely tolerate it.

Mouthfeel: Thin and watery with balanced carbonation.

Drinkability: Avoid this beer- it doesn't look like an American Amber, let alone taste like one.

A - Pours a nice amber color with a thin white lining as the head. Appears a bit lighter than many other ambers I had, perhaps a bit too watery?

S- Nothing too much to speak of. A whiff of malt with copious amount of cooked corn. A comparison to Killian's is mandatory here, to me they smell very similar for better or for worse.

T- Yikes. Not particulary offensive, but a blatant affront to many other amber ales that have much more to offer in the taste department. Very watery (as indicated by the Appearance), with a copious amount of "malt" sweetness. Hops are nonexistent. Simply, not good.

M- Nothing too special, a bit too carbonated for my taste, but not much to speak of.

D- Certainly quaff able, but there is nothing satisfying about drinking this beer.

Appearance: Pours a thin-looking, pale amber-hued body with a thin, white head.

Smell: Good heavens! This is, regrettably, is my third beer and Tap Room certainly saved their worst for last. Bargain bit malts stirred up with adjuncts and plastic shavings. It's only the sick, depraved masochist in me that presses onward.

Taste: Minimal malt character with a noted dusting of aspartame for added, if unpleasant sweetness. Almost no hop character or bitterness, instead you're treated to some repulsive plastic overtones. This is inexcusable and one I can't throw down the drain fast enough.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Avoid. As was the case with the pale ale and the lager, this is unenjoyable and wholly unrewarding. It's pretty understandable this horrid thing rolled out of the doors of a major malt liquor producer.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a mug.

Appearance/Smell - Appears clear amber with 1/3 an inch of lite, fluffy head, and it had very good retention. Lite carbonation can be seen, and it left spotted & broken lacing. Smells of lite caramel & molasses, mild nuttiness, pretty grainy & bready. Has an almost dominate, if not bright tart fruitiness to it, grape & apple, kind of a stale aroma, and this one was still fresh.

Taste/Mouthfeel - Tastes of mild graininess, molasses & caramel, semi tartness from fruity grape & pair notes, and finishes with lingering malts, molasses & caramel notes, and very very subtle hop bitterness. Needs complexity, All the flavors are pretty boring and flat, almost stale tasting. Mouthfeel is a little crisp, smooth, somewhat creamy, medium bodied, around average.

Drinkability/Final thoughts - Well this one is pretty boring and very mediocre, I really didn't like the overly grainy, molasses flavor profile, and the aroma wasn't great, it was kind stale. All in all this beer was seriously lacking and it really needed complexity, The thing that kind of turned me off was that it reminded me of Negro Modelo, which I could of got allot cheaper. Easy to drink a few, but why bother, this one is a pass, they do make a decent Pale Ale though, so don't back away from the entire brewery.
