Picked up a six for $6.99 at Whole Foods in Yonkers, NY. You get what you pay for...

No freshness info, Pours near black, with loght shining through at the edges, darker tan head, moderate in sized, leaves a decent looking film, some minor sheeting and some light lacing.

ehh nose of just some faint dark malts

Minimal roastyness, just some dark grains, and a moderate hop finish, just about drying things out. On the sweet side throughout.

As somebody else notes, this really drinks more as a darker brown ale.

Wouldnt bother agian with this tepid and middle of the road, barely craft beer...

Low-priced, undated 12 oz bottle in a snifter.
A: Deep brown, nearly black in the glass, with a modest tan head that has weak retention. Moderate lacing.

S: Pleasing aroma of dark roasted and sweet caramel malts; more of the latter than expected for a stout. Hints of molasses and milk chocolate. Smells like an amber/stout hybrid.

T: Good flavor, but sweet like a milk stout and lacking in strength. Overly mild aftertaste.

M: Smooth; light-medium body; slightly astringent and prickly despite low-medium carbonation; some dryness in the fnish.

O: Not bad, especially for the price. Although leaning to the sweet side for style, this is overall a decently balanced brew. Timid flavor and poor mouthfeel are the main weaknesses.

A: The beer is very dark red in color (black in appearance when viewed from quite some distance). It poured with a thin tan head that quickly died down, leaving some lacing on the surface and a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of dark malts are present in the nose along with hints of molasses.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and also has notes of sweetness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied but rather thin on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer definitely looks like a stout but seems quite thin for the style. I definitely would have enjoyed this beer more if it was fuller bodied and had more pronounced flavors in the taste.

Picked up a single in one of those "Ah fuck it, I'll just grab random crap" mix-a-sixes.

A: Eh, nothing particularly special here. Deep brown with a hazelnut head. Poor retention, not much lacing. Gets an extra half a point for the nice bottle art and slick ace of spades cap.

S: Not very stout-like at all. Hardly a rich, malty aroma, but more of a light, sweet, more inviting smell. I'm getting some nuts and milk chocolate.

T: First thought was distinctly " brown ale". Think Goose Island Nut Brown. The nutty character that resides in the smell finds itself in the taste as well. Very rich with a slight malt presence and a sweet, chocolately aftertaste.

M: The beer is, as previously mentioned, quite rich with a smooth, albeit slightly lighter body than was expected. Nothing like drinking motor oil, but also far from thin. Medium/medium-thick and works for this beer.

O: Not a half-bad brew. If you're expecting a traditional stout, this is not the beer for you. It's more of a Lite stout, very sweet with unobtrusive flavors and qualities that make it rather balanced and enjoyable by everyone. I'd seek this out again, although probably just in another random mix-a-six.

Pours an opaque deep brown with amber highlights and a foamy one inch tan head that slowly dissipates, leaving sheets of lacing.

Chocolate, nuts, light roast, and coffee form the aroma. It's sweet, and malted milk balls come to mind.

Flavor is roasty, chocolatey with a coffee grounds finish that lingers. There's a slightly metallic taste that is a little offputting. Bubblegum notes surface as it warms.

Body is a touch light, with moderate carbonation and an acrid finish.

Fairly sweet, chocolatey stout. The metallic/acrid finish detracts from the flavor profile.
