Transcribed from notes dated F, 25 Sept 2009.

Mine was a really abbreviated visit. A short front with a fenced-in patio led to the double entryway, followed by the m.d.s. in the centerline. The laminated blonde wood bar was on a button-hook right. I made a beeline for the bar since time was of the essence. I always marvel at the number of taps, if not the selection and this was no different. I had an Avery and then I had to go. I wish that I could have stayed longer because I really do like this chain and I wish that we could have one at the Park City mall in Lancaster, PA.

Good selection for a chain. My wife ordered an American craft beer flight and it came with an unidentified wheat beer, not the Hazed and Infused that was advertised. The server had no idea what it was and when he asked the bartender he apparently didn't know what he had poured either. We ordered a pizza as well and got the deep dish instead of thin crust, but it was a busy night with a parade out front so we just went with it. Service was good, if a little overzealous. Lots of potential, just don't go on a busy night.

This Old Chi's was my watering hole from spring of '92 til I moved up to Denver area in spring of '99. A lot has changed since I left there...

Based on the numerous times I was there for late night happy hour, dinner, or just a brew or three, service was always great. One of the servers was always coming up to me stating "Oh, we have this bottle that someone ordered, then decided they didn't want and now it's opened. Do you want it really cheap?" or "the kitchen is closing and we have a lot of garlic bread alread made up. Do you want some for free? We'll just throw it out." Made me feel very appreciated. And if I was sitting at the rail, several times I'd pay for about every other brew.

Beer selection was very good and it was this chain that helped turned me onto good beer. Corporate promotions/mini tours were less frequent (but better) back in the day but...(ah, yes. The Hoops and Hops mini tour, Best Of The Fest, The Wrigley Red tour....)

Food was/still is very good to great and I tend to hit here if I'm down in the Springs for a show, etc. Do miss the pasta bar they used to have...

Pretty much your average Old Chicago. Located right downtown which makes it a good stop if your going to another event near by. Decent amount of beers on tap. Nothing special though, just your standard micro/macro selection. Same goes for the bottle selection. A good amount to chose from, but nothing very tasty.

Service is usually speedy. Like most Old Chicago's their best asset if their food. Great pizza, pasta and salads. Awsome lunch buffet as well.

Beer prices are a bit high. Not a great discount during happy hour either.
