I was very interested to see what this ale had in store. Hue of deep amber with a good head. Very light sweet vegetable aroma. Initial sensation of bitterness greets the palate, quickly joined by a sugary malt and difficult to place floral taste. Smooth tasty brew with hints of several different earthy flavors.

Pours a clear medium amber, maybe leaning closer to red, with a small white head that leaves a bit of lace. Aroma is mostly sweet, assuming that is from the beet sugar used. Flavor is sweet, slightly tart, not much else. Medium bodied. Loses a bit for me as I apparently don't like beets, but another person who tasted it said it wasn't all that "beety".

Sampled on tap at the brewpub. ABV 4.4%. 23 IBU.

This interesting vegetable ale poured a clear, copper color with white foam that clung and left some lace. The smell was a mild malt aroma with a hint of sweetness and perhaps a hint of vegetable aroma. The taste was malty with a slight sweetness on the back of the tongue (beets?), and the hops were somewhat dry and oaky, though as the beer warmed there was a hint of sugar. The mouthfeel was smooth and dry. The body was medium with low carbonation feel. The hops came through in the finish and were almost puckering, and the hoppiness persisted in the aftertaste. This was an interesting and good amber ale. The beet presence was very subtle and could easily be missed.
