Went to Watch City yesterday for a lunch date...

My date and I were seated by the window looking out onto main street in Waltham which was a nice setting. Inside the brewpub was sleak and modern--perhaps a bit too sleek and modern. I do not recall seeing any tanks or other brewing equipment within sight so that kind of took away from my experience. Usually, those sorts of things figure prominently in the design of a brewpub. Anyway, our waitress, who never mentioned her name, was nice and efficient. The menu selection was all right, basically sandwiches, salads or entrees. I ordered a Ruben and my date ordered a buffalo chicken salad. We also got an order of sweet potato fries to start. The Ruben came with either fries, sweet potato fries or a side salad. I chose the latter. Anyway, the beer was ok, I got a sampler with a chocolate porter, the American red IPA, the Rye Hefeweizen and the Monky Monk. I liked the chocolate porter and the Hefeweizen. I generally don't care for IPAs so that should account for my not liking their offering.

All in all, Watch City is an adequate brewing establishment. It has food and it has beer. The two saving graces in my opinion were the service and the sweet potato fries. The beer wasn't as amazing as I had hoped so I left a bit unsatisfied...

I would give this place another try only if there were no other alternative.

Very disappointed in the beer selection available. Didn't even have their flagship beers??? Website not updated with offerings. Service was a little better than average but it was pretty dead in there. I had the steak and cheese and my wife had a cheeseburger, both were very good. We went for the beer, not the food, and were surprised by both.
