Growler from the brewery. Pours a deep dark amber orange red, with a small, cream colored head. Really beautiful looking beer. Aroma of big ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, sweet caramel malts. Flavor comes in with very little pumpkin, huge hits of ginger and nutmeg, a bit of cinnamon. Bitter finish and light caramel sweetness. Slick body, medium carbonation, lingering spice on the palate. Overall, this was a nice base beer that seem to go overboard on the spices. Serious in your face spice here, and I am not a huge fan of the style. Comes in relatively big (imperial?) at 8% abv according to the chalk board at the brewery.
This comes out better than Pumking for me, but not by much. If you're a pumpkin beer fan this one is one to put on your list to try for sure, the style just doesn't do it for me with all the spices.
