This is their Midnight Oil Coffee Stout before the coffee addition, it is exclusive to Stubbies and Steins in Gainesville, Fl.
Pours a pitch black with a short, 1/2 finger, nitro creamy head that is tan in color and leaves little to know lacing down the glass. This beer looks like most other nitro stouts when poured in to the glass, while I don't like it. I can't really knock it either.
Smell is of rich dark chocolate, almost Baker's chocolate dark, roasted malt and very slight alcohol. The nose is subdued due to the cap of head and this would have gotten a higher score if the nose was stronger and a little better defined.
Tastes of rich dark chocolate with hints of roasted malt bitterness in the end. Surprisingly, there is very little coffee flavor compared to the Midnight Oil Stout.
The beer has a medium body with the usual thin nitro carbonation. Easy drinker, I could easily see myself downing quite a few of these if I had the time and money too.
Can't help but feel this would be better on a standard tap rather than nitro but it is a great stout none the less.
