Counter pressure filled bottle from the brewery.
Glassware - Allagash Tulip
Appearance - Dark copper in color with initially a two-finger white head that falls down to a thin cap covering the entire beer. Nice lacing on the glass. A little dark for an IPA, closer to an amber/red ale in appearance. Still a fine looking beer.
Nose - Big fruity hop aroma in the nose. Lots of mango, pineapple and citrus (orange and tangerine). Smells a LOT like Hopslam.
Taste - Lots of hop flavor with light bitterness on the swallow. The flavor again is primarily fruity with a nice pine bittering note. Not a lot of malt character but very complex hop flavors.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate-light carbonation. Nice resinous finish I expect from an IPA.
Overall - Very good, dangerously drinkable IPA. If it were a little lighter in color it would be near perfect. Great beer.

This is a really nice beer. It's not too florally hoppy and not to heavy. This is the kind of IPA you can have many of and not feel too full. I just had it in a twelve beer sampler at Engine 15 in Jacksonville Beach and I think it came in second only to a giant of IPAs from Green Flash. BTdubs - the other Swamphead beers were also good representations of their type and quite tasty. I'll be taking a trip to Gainesville at some point...
