Very small clean and classy interior with nice wooden tables and bar. The service is friendly albeit quite slow when I was there and they have a good selection of food and beer. They seem to be connoiseurs as well considering the reason I went in was I saw Mirror Mirror on tap. Unfortunately, I had my son with me and I couldn't go in until a couple of days later which of course was too late. At any rate when I asked him about it he said he had been saving the keg for a year. It's definitely on the expensive side but if they have a few unique or rare beers to find on tap around here, it's definitely worth a shot.

edit: Tried the house burger that was supposed to have stout onions and mushrooms. The onions were undercooked and there wasn't much stout, if any. The burger was also a thin flat patty that was supposed to be cooked medium. They have some more interesting gourmet looking offerings but to me, if they can't get a burger right then it's not worth paying a lot extra to find out if it's any good.

This tiny spot (capacity is less than 50) has a nice selection. With about 15 taps, you'll find something you'll like. There was a nice variety of Northwest brews on tap and a couple of imports (IIRC). The food menu was interesting and used as many local and fresh ingredients as possible, depending on the season. I had a fresh Dungeness crab and mozzerella quesadilla that was very good.

The room is a little odd shaped, with the bar ahead of you as you enter, and then spreading to the right. Off to the left is a small set of steps that lead to a quiet alcove that overlooks the rest of the bar. The kitchen is directly behind the bar and you can watch some of the activity, if you're so inclined. Pleasant music played at just the right volume in the background.

The Empire makes a nice addition to the MV bar scene and worth a visit if you're in the area. I still like the Porterhouse (a block up the street) better, but the Empire is certainly worthy.
