One of a handful of liquor stores in Tewksbury. It is by far the most affordable. Normal selection of major and micro-brewery beers, nothing special. The specialty (non-refridgerated) aisle is a bit hidden, back near the glassware and bottle return. Employees are not beer experts but some show an interest. They will, however, order a case of pretty much anything you request. Weird little spot in a weird little sunken plaza. It is has beer tasting at their wine tastings though, only packie in town that has such events.

Update 2/16/11

Aubuts received the beer for their new and enlarged craft beer section today. I was told the new stock should be in the inventory system and the whole section fully up within the next few days.

Craft beer has recently been eradicated from this location. The selection now is now very limited. There still is a section tucked in the back amidst the boxes that has some interesting swag that they are selling to turn a profit. There were a few stray bottles of Chimay on the shelves... but one could tell that they would not be replaced.

I bought a 4 pack of La Fin Du Monde, and should have checked the expiration. It expired three years prior to the purchase date. Sick... sick ... sick... dumb ... dumb.

The whole thing is a bit of a shame, as they were one of the few "packies" that carried Rapscallion (a brew from the local Lowell, Brewery).

JC Spirits on the corner of Shawsheen and East now carries a very good selection.

This is a really wierd place. It's more or less your average liquor store, aside from a small, specialized beer/homebrew aisle hidden in the corner like a deformed baby. It's really a disaster area, with boxes piled in front of the shelves and assorted crap here and there. One side is filled with questionably ancient homebrewing materials, such as bags of malt and hops, with a smallish glassware section at one end. A couple pictures and collection bottles adorn the wall. The bottles are really old, older even than the stock on the shelves, and Charlie Papazian is smiling away in one of the photographs. You should always smile back to Charlie.
The other side is a veritable graveyard of dust adorned bottles. There are some fresher looking exhibits, but amongst the selection are some truly geriatric bottles better suited for a museum. Old Pyramid and Portland brewing beers share space with green glass Mythos lager, hoary Dornbusch brews, and Fischer bottles that are positively antediluvian. What saves me from complete disgust are those other bottles. The ones that are equally old, but can survive a little time in the bottle. Most notably, this is where I picked up my first bottle of Westvleteren, seemingly only a myth in my previous searches. The glassware collection has a couple interesting finds, as well.
I've been in this store three times (it's on the way home from a job site), and the only apparent employee in the store is situated at the cash register. They're always pleasant, but I highly doubt they know anything about what I'm interested in.
A very weird place, to reiterate. Worth a stop if you're on the hunt for some vintage brews, or like looking at old stuff. I wouldn't trust anything from this place below 8% unless it's in the cooler, and what's in there can be found anywhere else.

Aubuts gets a very mixed review. They have a pretty good selection of beers - Westvleteren, Rochefort, Westmalle, Chimay, and many other Belgians, as well as a good selection of local stuff. The main problem I have is that it seems like a tornado has ripped through the store. The beer section (in the back right), is hidden behind stacks of wine boxes, and is just a mess. I have been in there a bunch of times in the past 4 or so years, and I think that many of the beers are still in the exact same place as the first time I went in, with the same 4 year old dust buildup still on them. Their prices are a little higher than other area stores as well.

Aubuts Liquors is located on Main St. (Rt. 38) in Tewksbury, MA, about 4 miles from I-495 (exit 38). It is across the street from Piccadilly Pub. The inside of the store seemed a bit disheveled. About 15-20% of the store is devoted to beer. There was wine interspersed with the beer on the shelves (odd). The store also had a section with homebrewing supplies. The size of the selection of beers was good, and the quality of those offered was good. They had a fair number of Belgians (incl. Westvleteren 12 and 8, about a dozen of each), and a fair number of oddball beers that I had not seen elsewhere in the area. Many of the bottles were quite dusty, and some were well beyond their marked "best by" dates. I found and purchased probably the last bottles of New Glarus Belgian Red in the state of Massachusetts here.

As for service, when I took my selections to the check-out, I casually mentioned that the beer selection was nice but that some were expired. I said I decided to get two of them anyway since they were most likely still good. The woman then said that she would give me one free and the other for 99 cents (this was over a $10 savings). I would call this very good service, but other than this, I was not offered much else in the way of service.

It seems that Aubuts has begun cleaning out most of their older selections. Unfortunately, these were also the best selections, and they do not seem to be replacing them. There are still some left, but I have to bump down their quality and selection ratings.
