Bottle poured into chalice, no head , no lacings

Aroma of citrus, tangerine, whiff of pine

Taste follows aroma

Suds up well, slight bite on the first sip, lingers on the middle and back of the tongue

Ok beer

Big foamy white head and decent, thorough lacing. Nose has a bright almost noble hop quality to it while the taste takes on a different personality altogether. Puney, earthy and a little malty sweet. Finish is dry but leaves plenty of bitter. Much better than the overall rating.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Has a dark hazy amber color. The smell is ok but the taste is not my thing. My wife says it has a fruity medicinal flavor. I thought it had a bitterness taste and finish that was not flavorable. I have had plenty of beers from this brewer that I absolutely love but this is not one of them.

gold and not over filtered, so it looks like beer. a mild nose with taste that is on the earthy side for an ipa... it is from mother earth brewery after all. very smooth and drinkable. excellent comfort beer.

Had sediment when poured from the bottle. Good flavor, solid IPA. Nothing spectacular, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes a simple IPA is what you want.

Poured into a miniature tasting snifter from a 12oz bottle.

Look: Light gold slightly copper color with minimal head and light lacing.

Smell: Floral, melon and sweet malt. Not very pungent.

Taste: Sweet Malt, light stone fruit, grapefruit acidity and a lingering bitterness.

Feel: Medium bodied, lasting impression.

Overall: Drinkable IPA but nothing about it really makes it stand out. The hop profile is well controlled.

yellowish amber the with a head. Sudsy in the mouth and Whether it's a good IPA is another matter, and the flavor seems to be earthy.

malty with an herbal tea taste . It's followed by bitterness that is like green tea . mouthful of carbonation, but it's not a beer I can finish either.

Had a couple six packs of these during a recent trip to NC. Thought it was a very good craft beer. Poured well, amber in color, good flavor without the overbearing grapefruit taste so common to many IPA's. Nice hops, highly recommend!

Typical heady IPA, hoppy nose with piney undertones. Taste is good, nothing spectacular but a very solid showing.

Lacking punch in the mouthfeel department, and a little bitter for my palate.

There are just SO many IPAs to taste. I would drink this again if offered or at the brewery. Wouldn't necessarily seek it out.

Pours a hazed amber. Seems a bit too unfiltered for the beer's qualities to show through. Almost clogged really. I guess not thoroughly filtering can be of benefit, but sometimes it can work against you. Seems like that is the case with this beer. A nice drinker, which I definitely can appreciate. Probably something to drink with food.

Pours a lighter copper body with orange hues beneath the billowing white head which patiently dissolves leaving a sticky wake of lacing in its path.

Aromas consist primarily of sweet, zesty citrus hops such as grapefruit or lemon. There may be some piney wood or grassy notes lingering in there as well.

The flavor is a little different. The hops are more floral, but still hints of citrus and pine exist. There is also a more pronounced malt profile, like biscuit or toasted crackers.

Medium in body with generous carbonation and a sticky, palate coating finish.

This beer is right there in the middle of the style. I would certainly drink it regularly if it were local, just a plain tasty IPA. Perhaps not one of the pungent hop lip smackers its counterparts are, but still darn good.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Date says bottled on 8/01/13

A: Cloudy light copper. Frothy off white head that had decent retention as well as lots of lacing

S: Smell of citrus hops and carmel malts, not a very strong smell.

T: Strong grapefruit and pine hops as well as some sweeter pineapple up front.

M: Leaves a bitter coating on the teeth Body is medium and the carbonation is appropriate.

O: I could drink this as an everyday IPA

This was first exposure to Mother Earth. I thought this was a beautiful IPA. I really did miss the nose completely. I was in my Pizza restaurant after cooking for 12 hours though. I find it hard to rate a good IPA, I'm not being Lazy! I look forward to our beer tasting with them in the new year.

A- Amber color with 1 finger, creamy head. Semi-transparent with small particles floating throughout.
S- Bitter grapefruit, pine, caramel, a little orange and lemon zest.
T- Big pine and grapefruit up front. Caramel and orange join the show mid palette, but is soon overtaken by a bigger pine resin than was present up front. Aftertaste is mainly piney, but has some sweet orange and lemon behind it.
M- Medium body with crisp carbonation. Somewhat creamy. Oily feel with lingering bitterness and a touch of spice.
O- I enjoyed this beer. It definitely had more pine than citrus, but the pine was very well complemented by the citrus and malts. Overall, nicely balanced. I would definitely have this again.

The whole 6 pack was severely flawed by a metallic taste, which can come from a variety of causes. The bottles had a bottled on field on the label, which were left blank. I have never tasted a beer with such a huge overwhelming metallic flaw as this one. I assume it was a bad batch, based on other reviews.

Poured from a bottle into a pint
A: Orange yellow, the exact tint of bud. Small pencil with head that dissipates immediately. OK lacing.
S: yeast, generic "beer" of water and shitty hops, not good.
T: Just watery upfront with an unpleasant blend of alcohol and burnt something on the end.
M: Like flavored water, beer flavored water at least but not beer.
O: This is kinda gross. Nothing going on and no detectable hops. I guess it beats bud... barely.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, hazy, orange-caramel coloring with a sparse, thin, filmy, bright white head. Aromas of biscuit and caramel backbone, tangy and floral hops characteristics, subtle spicing, and some tropical fruit sweetness. Very tart, crisp citrus notes on the forward tongue, with a blend of lemon, lime, and grapefruit. The biscuit backbone follows up behind, balancing a bit, with an effervescent feel riding throughout the entire experience. Light bodied, transitioning to the tropical fruit sweet and tangy aftertaste. Very fruity throughout. The finish is dry, crisp, and clean, with hints of resiny bitterness lingering a bit. Very unique IPA, much lighter and more fruit-centric than others. Tasty, with building flavor profiles.

A - Pours a light golden/yellow straw color. Very hazy with half a finger of light tan/off white head, ok retention, strong lacing.

S - Light, mild citrusy aroma. Grassy/lemony and biscuity semi sweet caramel malts

T - As it smells, light bitter citrusy/lemon flavors. Not nearly as sweet as the smell indicates although the finish comes through quite sweet. Slight dry bitter aftertaste

M - Lighter bodied, good carbonation, quite drinkable

O - Light drinkable, decent hop bite. Pretty standard but decently done

Appearance: Pours a burnt golden orangish color…fairly transparent, with a bit of haze to it…head is just off white, a mix of big and tiny bubbles and settles to a thin layer…it does liven up a bit with a couple of swirls, but really rests thin…(3.25/5)

Smell: Grassy bitterness up front…it’s got a crisp, fresh smell, but is dominated by grassy bitterness…I do get some earthy/pale malts, mild graininess and light honey sweetness as well…a touch of is yeast aroma mixed in there as well…a light, summertime feel with this brew…as it warms, a lemony bite appears…(3.25/5)

Taste: Earthy/pale/light caramel malts and a mild sweetness up front...the strong grassy/earthy bitterness and yeast flavors come through in second and really take over the taste buds…third phase I pick up some piney hops bite that becomes more apparent over time…tons of rich flavor here, this brew grows as it warms…(3.5/5)

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with medium carbonation…it does fluff up bringing earthy/grassy bitterness to the palate along with some earthy/pale/caramel malts and a lingering piney bite…there’s a crispness up front that fades to a richness that is nice…the mouthfeel is definitely the best part of this brew…settles really nice on the tongue and the after taste is satisfying…(4/5)

Overall: This is a tasty brew…the flavor definitely has grown on me as I’ve done this review and now I sit here actually liking it (I improved the score a bit too)…the higher ABV is very noticeable, leaving this reviewer ready to watch some NBA Finals…overall, I have to say that while it’s not my favorite, it’s certainly doesn’t disappoint and something I would surely drink again in the future…mix-a-six is a great concept! Thanks to Rusel_G for the bottle.

Appearance: Light copper-infused gold. Couple cm whistle head is creamy with a big creamy bubble structure. Sheets of lacing cling to the glass. Moderate retention leaves a small cap and collar.

Smell: Mega fruity, almost like tropical punch. Apple and a hint of pear. A touch of bitterness. Decidedly earthy and herbal. Malts run a touch sweet for the hop profile. Biscuit with a ton of cooked malts. Juicy fruit.

Taste: Fruity herbal and a bit earthy. Slight lingering bitterness. Malts are a bit more assertive than the hops, but ultimately strike a balance. Cooked malts with a biscuit component. Some leafy elements. A bit dirty in the back. Some oily pine. Why you so herbal? Some caramel and biscuit malt.

Mouthfeel: A bit slick. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Lingering bitterness.

Overall: No plans on syncing my cycle.

A good drinking IPA. Definitely falls in the maltier east coast style but it does it reasonably well. Hop and malt profiles seem a little incompatible in the long run.

12oz bottle into a DFH tulip/pint glass. 2/15/13 bottling date

pours a rich copper color with an inch thick white head. Nice aroma of citrusy hops, not too overpowering. Good smell. Taste - nice hops up front with a good amount of bitterness. Malt backbone is kind of "off." Balancing isnt quite right. But this is definitely not a boring beer, they tried to give it a good flavor and uniqueness and didnt play it safe. I detect some mango and pear flavors which is different for an IPA. Good drinkability, medium bodied with medium carbonation.

Overall this beer is a just a bit too bitter and the flavor is a tad offputting, but its a fairly good east coast IPA. I always say that west coast IPAs are just leaps and bounds ahead of east coast versions and this is no exception. But for an east coast IPA this one is not bad.

Attractive yellowish amber brew in the tumbler with a handsome head. Sudsy in the mouth and has the best kind of beery sensations. Whether it's a good IPA is another matter, and the flavor seems to be entirely vegetal and earthy.

Quite malty with an herbal tea taste that just doesn't go away. It's followed by an unfortunate bitterness that is like green tea steeped too long. Well made with a lovely mouthful of carbonation, but it's not a beer I can finish. From the 12 oz bottle bought at Whole Foods in Washington, DC.

Pours a semi transparent dark amber with a bright white foamy head.

The smell is citrus and biscuit, fairly weak though.

The taste is bitter, citrus, juicy hops. There is some malt sweetness on the finish. Actually tastes pretty good.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation.

This is a decent but not great ipa, would definitely drink it again.
