Served from tap into a sampler shaker. Poured golden yellow with a one finger pure white head. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, banana, and wheat. The flavor was of sweet malt, banana, wheat, slight grain, and water. It had a light feel on the palate with low carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew, but that is being nice. This one was pretty weak in just about all aspects if I'm honest. Could definitely be A LOT more robust. It would make a good summer brew or gateway beer, but that is about it.

[Best served in a Kölsch glass]

The pour was a hazy medium yellow with an average sized (1-2 finger) white fluffy head that lasted a little while and had some nice lacing.

The aroma was super light of a grain malt, grassy and floral hops and a soapy yeast with a hint of lemon.

The taste was lightly sweet and mildly acidic with touch of lemon at first and slightly bitter with a large does of yeast and a hint of citrus at the end. The flavor lasted an average time with a yeasty-citrus taste lingering on for a little while.

Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with the carbonation being rather soft.

Overall this was a nice light refreshing Kölsch. Although nothing special really stuck out it was quite solid for the style.

Mother Earth Brewing, Endless River, Kolsch

3.5 A: Great clean golden straw coloration with nice thin cap of white foam, slight lacing but not much and nice constant rise of bubbles to feed it.

3.0 S: The aroma is grainy and slightly grassy with a light lemon scent in there.

3.0 T: Taste is light and crisp with a refreshing lightly hopped and slight fruity taste in there.

3.0 M: Light body and crispy clean flavors make this a great summer beach beer, great in the heat of the day.

3.5 O: Overall, would definitely have this again, very refreshing.

OK, preface....Kolsch's are not my favorite style.

With that said, this was OK. Gto this while in Emerald Isle, NC.

I thought it smelled rather cheap. Almost like smelling a low end party beer.

Some citrus, lots of hops, a bit too grainy maybe.

Not too much body at all, like I said maybe this is the way it is supposed to be.

I rated the Drinkability higher as it does go down smooth and I could see drinking these all night.

Poured into an Hannen Alt glass on 9/30/12

The color of pineapple juice, but not as cloudy. One thumb cap of white foam.

Buttered bread and grains are at the fore of the aroma, backed up with earthy hops. Hints of metallic hops and steamed veggies. The taste is mostly comprised of qualities mentioned in the former of the two prior sentences. Very grainy, and somewhat buttery. Hops are appropriately low. The metal and vegetal notions are absent here. The feel is a plush medium-light, with a rolling graininess and soft, billowy carbonation.

Overall: Though not the best take on a Kolsch in the region (COAST handily has that distinction), this is easily drinkable and better than I was expecting based on the aroma.

Pours a very pale amber colour with a small white head.

The smell is grainy with just a little hint of bitterness.

The taste is grainy, finishing with a decent amount of bitterness. It's very light and easy drinking.

The mouthfeel is very light with medium carbonation.

This was a very easy drinking beer, a bit light and bland for my tastes though.

Thanks for jbrew for sending me a mixed 6 of ME beers!

A - vibrant, translucent yellow. Pours with a tiny ring of head, then almost immediately dissipates.

S - Muted lemon and grassy hops.

T - This tastes exactly as it smells - spent lemon and grassy earthiness coming from the hops. I'm getting a slight bitterness similar to and orange or lemon peel and a touch of banana. I was actually hoping for a little more ester-y character, but it didn't show up. Extremely light and pale malt character.

M - thin and heavily carbonated despite the lack of head and bubbles. Very satisfying crisp bite.

D - Several of my non-craft drinking friends loved this beer, said it reminded them of GI Urban Wheat (uhhh, not sure about that), but this appears to be a great crossover beer. I wouldn't mind another one of these, but wouldn't seek it out.

Thanks for sharing this one, Bobby.

A: The beer pours a pale straw color with a short lived white head.

S: The aroma is lightly sweet with a mild corn note. There is some cracker malt with a slight floral hop aroma. A bit of yeast and hints of white grapes.

T: A really strong flavor of white grapes which gives is sort of a crappy white wine taste. Other than that, there is some sweet bread and pale malt with a hint of biscuit malt. A fairly mild bitterness with a hint of grass

M: The body is medium, as is the carbonation.

O: Not sure where that white wine/grape flavor came from, but it really ruined the beer.

Thanks to Jwale73 for this bottle!

Appears pale yellow with a one inch white head that falls to a lumpy layer on top. The aroma is grassy, lightly malty and a little citrus sharpness. It is a hoppy Kolsch in taste. It starts with spicy hops up front some malt sweetness and fruitiness in the middle then it finishes dry and slightly bitter.

Light/medium body with crisp carbonation. A bit heavier than most kolsches. Overall it's decent - much more overt flavor than a typical kolsch which may be a positive or a negative depending what you expect from your kolsch.

12oz bottle poured into a Pint Glass. Bottled on 3/29/11, so right around 3 months old.

A - Pours a slightly hazy straw-yellow with a thin white head that dissipates to a slight haze.
S - Grainy malt, bread dough, spicy yeast, and a bit of earthy hops. Nice and crisp.
T - More bready malt with a touch of sweet caramel for good measure dominates, with a bit of that spicy yeast and floral hops. Nice and balanced, just like a Kolsch should be.
M - Crisp and refreshing, with a thin body and medium-sharp carbonation.
O - Solid example of a Kolsch, perfectly sessionable on a hot day.

This is a style that doesn't get too exciting but the Mother Earth version is not bad either. Pours a clear gold with a decent size white head (on a hard pour). Lacing is pretty good. The aroma is mild maltiness, fairly subdued.

The taste is malty with a little grassy hops in the finish. Pleasant and refreshing. Mouthfeel is crisp, the little bitterness at the end is good. Drinkability is fine. Would be a decent enough session beer.

This beer is light, clean, crisp, and easy drinking. It poured a golden color with a thin white head. Flavors of pale malts. This beer has a light body and is a pleasure to drink. This is a very approachable beer and is a great session beer for a hot day.

Bottled on 18 April 2011 and served in a pint glass.

A: Light yellow gold, clear but with a slight haze. White short head dissipated quickly leaving a thin partial coat, ring and little lacing. Visible fine carbonation. Tiny bit of sediment added mid-taste.

S: Grassy and floral grains with a hints of lemon, biscuits and hay.

T: Lightly flavored but typical for style; really a 'light' beer but with a notable bit light malts and some lasting hop presence and mild bitterness on the back end.
M: Light and crisp. Moderate carbonation. Clean, slightly dry finish.

O: Very good for style but ... As is typical for style, not enough flavor here to really enjoy in quantity on its own. I.e., doesn't make a good sipper. Best used to quench a thirst or accompany a mild flavored meal.

{revised with Nov. 2014 sample on tap).
