poured from tap at brewery into snifter.
very dark brown with small tan head that left a little lacing.
woah, it smells like I stuck my head in a mash-tun! all I smell is malted grains and more malted grains. almost cloyingly sweet smelling. tasting it brings in some other flavors of chocolate and oatmeal but the mashed grains is still almost overpowering.
maybe a touch thin and slightly over-carbonated.
this may be one of those brews that is better from a bottle than tap. unfortunately, I didnt buy a bottle to take home.

12 ounce bottle -> New Belgium globe glass
A - pours a rich obsidian black with a one finger tan colored head, some retention, and some lacing left.
S - chocolate, coffee, charcoal
T - There is a chocolately, toffee sweetness present balanced by a finish that is roasted coffee, a bit smokey with a charcoal note present.
M - average thick, average carbonation, a slight bitter aftertaste
O - pretty nice offering. More of a stout than a porter in my opinion.

Thanks to Wil for this one! Love the nostalgic name.
Creamy smooth from the oats, mellow roast malt aftertaste. A compact layer of stained parchment foam that settles briefly, leaving behind a thin broken skim and spotty lacing. Flavors of carob and unsweetened milk chocolate, dark roast coffee. Slight lingering bitterness. Light toasted bready malt aroma. Flavorful but mellow and sessionable at the same time.
