2014 vintage. Poured from a bottle into a snifter, the beer is a rose-tinted copper coloring with a tall, frothy, bubbly, off-white head. Aromas of tart raspberry, toasted grains, and subtle notes of dry and tart chardonnay. Flavors are very tart forward, with raspberry first and foremost, and strong chardonnay fruit and dryness in the backbone. This becomes a very tart, fruity palate throughout. The smooth, crisp body keeps it drinkable, but it is definitely a sipper. The aftertaste fades quickly, but it's all raspberry fruit. The finish has a tart linger on a smooth body. My guess is this would mellow out nicely if aged.

Served from bottle into a Mother Earth snifter (proper!). Poured a deep ruby red-orange with a one finger white head that subsided to half a finger very slowly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, fruit, funk, raspberries, and white wine. The flavor was of sweet malt, wheat, raspberries, funk, wine, and wood. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation.Overall this was a decent brew. It more closely related to a wine rather than a beer if I am completely honest here. Only difference was in that it had a sweet note from the raspberries. Glad I got to tick it, but doubt I would buy another bottle in the future.

During a recent trip to NC, I picked a bottle of this up for $19. 750ml corked and caged offering poured into a snifter. The brew appears a clear copper color with a huge frothy white head that leaves a full wall of lace sticking to the glass. A swirl revives a finger of suds back to the surface.

The aroma is unmistakeable smelling of raspberry mingled with other fruity aspects. A bit more of a fruited perfume aspect emerges from the glass as it warms with some solvent alcohol. Across the back is a little grassy edge.

The flavor includes a spicy oak character upfront almost like cinnamon and charred oak with a mild vanilla sweetness. A bit of cheesy funk into the aftertaste and solvent alcohol that starts to warm things up. Sometimes when bigger sips are taken, you can up on a mild accenting spice of wit/belgian yeast notes with faint clove that blends into the previously mentioned barrel character.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. A little boozy at times for a wit and overall an interesting offering. It is raw with oak and cinnamon-like spice that was interesting. Having drank this immediately after the blackberry version I can undoubtably state I prefered this one. However, at this price point I would not buy again.

Had on tap at Sticks and Stones here in Greensboro last night.Poured into a goblet a hazed straw color with a nice looking half finger white head atop.Aromas are citric with some lactic raspberry and honey, the aromas really jump out at ya.Flavors are fruity with a toasted edge up front but then a healthy dose of barnyard funkiness hits and lingers in the finish.I like this beer but Iam just not a big fan of the funk,in saying that, this is a very well made beer.

A beautiful strong wheat ale aged in barrels woven with raspberries.

Presentation: 750 ml brown corked and caged bottle. Somewhat tacky and/or lazily designed label with a dull section of a window frame, image of a barrel, and the raspberries. Side notes offer a small description, bottling date 2013, and notes 8.3% Alc. by Vol. Served in a tulip glass.

A - Slightly hazy deep golden pour, small head with moderate retention and some gentle touches of lacing.

S - Soft fruity nose, light raspberries and an undertone of sweetness...

T - …which open up dramatically in the palate. Long wheat sweetness, woven in oak, vanilla, remote vinous hint, and there goes the raspberry, gently with a tart dash, and back to the sweet barrel…

M - Medium to medium-full body with soft carbonation… Nice creaminess. Long lingering sipping sense.

O - A delightful flow, hint of tartness, dash of berries and a shining sense of the barrels over the packing sweetness…

Notes: …it sure hit a weak spot. One of the best new brews I've had all year so far. Quite a highlight. The tartness is not the focus but the touch is also there, same with the fruit, if anything the barrel pushes farther the range than anything else and it is all woven in a rather spectacular sweet flow. The design is not that inviting and it took me a while to grab it with these mixed reviews and rest of the feedback I was getting… This should be flying off shelves. Underrated and-or telling about a bizarre palate? Sure enough I´ll try to get hold of a couple more bottles to see if this was an off-day.
