750 mL bottle served chilled in a Corsendonk glass.

Appearance: Slightly hazy golden yellow topped by a thick and white head of tiny bubbles. Visible carbonation supports and replenishes a thick pillow of omnipresent white foam. Blotches and rings left on the sides of the glass.

Smell: Heavily phenolic aromas of peppers and mild cloves. Pears, peach, and some pineapply type fruit. Nosehairs got a bit singed from the smell of booze... daddy likes.

Taste: Brash, bold, and spicy pepper flavors rush forth. Sweet and fruity apple and pearlike malts take over, slowly giving way to some aged noble hop aftertastes.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with an almost cotton candylike presence on the mouth. Kinda prickly carbonation, too.

Drinkability: $6 for 750mL? Woot! A bit rough and brash for true greatness. This feels harsher than DR, but still enjoyable. I think I'll shill out the extra buck for St. Bernadus Tripel, though.

330mL bottle, best before date of Oct 2014. poured into a tulip glass.

A - clear, copper, pours a thin white frothy head that fades into a thin 4mm lacing.

S - sweet, fruity (banana and mandarin) aroma with some malts and honey. Subtle, but distinct.

T - sweet, grass-like yeasty flavours surrounded by malts and a hint of cloves. Mixes with a slight sourness towards the end. Bitter hoppy aftertaste, although alcohol is muted. A bit different - nothing too strong in the flavour area, but it goes go down well.

M - Light body, oily texture, moderate carbonation for this style, slightly metallic finish.

O - pretty good, I enjoyed the sour kick to the intense sweetness. nothing too outrageous here, either good or bad. the alcohol is well hidden (which is good for me). Overall this goes down very well, but nothing in here to excite. I would definitely try again, if the price suits.

330ml bottle, poured into over sized tulip. A:
Golden colour, clear, one finger head, faded
quickly, some lacing. S: Yeast, esters, fruit. T:
Surprisingly thin for a 7% beer, had slight hints of
yeast, wheat, fruit, diacetyl, but pretty bland. M:
Minimal carbonation, thick body. O: Not great, a
lesser version of the standard common Belgian
Blonde.

Stubby bottle in a similar shape to other Belgian brews. Pretty uninteresting label.
Light golden colour body with bleached white head. Head fades quickly to a ring around the edge of the glass and an island in the middle. Considering not much head is left it clings to the glass admirably.
Sounds like a barbecue that is almost ready to cook on.
Corn, bread, orange, apple and banana aromas are all quite subtle and not putting up much of a fight to come through.
Quite spicy, bitter, lemon, apricot and some banana flavours.
Possibly too lively feels overly carbonated to me.
Overall in my view not that great.

A: served in a chalice. light golden in color, or maybe just blond.

S: some yeast, citrus and a hint of hop.

T: wow. one of the best experience i've had with a beer. not only is the Kasteel blond a pleasure to drink, it's complexity tingles the senses. With a slightly sweet front, the beer gives way to a cornucopia of flavor. Banana, hop, with a perfect finish.

M: medium carbonation. Really a pleasure.

O: I've seen some reviews of this beer out of the bottle, which I cannot say I've tried. The times I've experienced it, the beer came from a tap. Given that qualifier, this is one of the best beers I have ever had. I would recommend to anyone. It's like a Leffe Blond on steroids.
