Notes/Commercial Description:
Kasteel Rouge is a blend of Kasteel Donker and cherry liquor. The mix of these two excellent products creates an exceptional soft beer with references to the dark mother beer.

This seems to be a beer you either love, or don't. I think it's an outstanding fruit beer and a great example of the softer side of Belgian brewing. On tap at The Public House in La Jolla.

This has the most delicious cherry flavor with a heavenly scent of cherries. It's so much better than the Lindeman's fruit beers. Bad cherry extract is such a wretched thing, that you should taste this so see how good cherry can taste in a beverage.

This is so deeply fruity with a nice touch of sweetness, but balanced by the tart finish. Rich but light bodied. Attractive red amber color with a fine-grained and long-lasting foam. Zingy on the tongue with just a nice acidity, like real fruit.

Not a beer that you slam but one you sip. Cherry notes are prominent and the sweetness is not overbearing. Excellent special occasion beer. Happy I was able to partake.

Pours like cola, dark yet clear, loose large bubble form a one inch head and quickly subside. The scent is of dark fruits, cherry, raisin and prune-like, very sweet and like the presence, reminiscent of cola.
Taste is near sour citrus up front that quickly subsides to a beautiful black cherry lingering finish. Near impossible to detect the 8% alcohol unless you wait patiently before sipping again and you will feel a little heat. This is masterfully balanced with a carbonation just lively enough to carry the fruit flavors over the palette. It's truly like a soft drink, maybe a dark alternative to a summertime beer.
I believe this is a bit underrated previously and would certainly recommend to anyone with a sweet tooth for their beers and very welcome surprise.
