Great semi-sweet stout to go with. Even better is around X-mas time they will add a touch of mint to really give it that holiday taste!

A: nice creamy lacing, since it was nitro, there were nice small bubbles. Dark like a porter, not black.
S: I actually didn't get coffee notes, rather more of a smoky note more than anything. Good deep smell
T: Tasted roasty and smoky, with hints of sweetness and chocolate
M: Creamy but not overly heavy. Nitro was a nice addition

Poured from a growler into a tulip glass. Good color, like dark chocolate. Light brown one finger head that quickly dissipates leaving slight lacing.

Nice smell. Semi sweet chocolate, dark roast coffee.

Very nice taste. Semisweet chocolate with hints of coffee. Nice slight hop finish. The chocolate taste lingers. Not as sweet as other milk stouts which is fine with me.

Mouthfeel is smooth but not thick. Nice slight carbonation like most milk stouts.

Overall a very nice stout and it will not be my last taste I hope. Looking forward to trying more beers from the brewery just up the road.

APPEARANCE: Poured from the tap, this beer presented a creamy light tan 1/2" head with excellent lacing that dissipated slowly. There was no visible carbonation but that could have been an artifact of its opaque black color. Held up to the light, this beer didn't even change color around the edges. Now that's black!

AROMA: Mainly roasted coffee with a bit of anise.

TASTE: More complex than the smell. Heavy dark chocolate and a slightly bitter espresso taste along with some roasted dark malt sweetness, some anise, a modest touch of milk and a light tang of alcohol rounded out the taste of this one. Well-balanced and full flavored.

MOUTHFEEL: A nice full body to this one with a smooth texture, little if any carbonation and excellent body lacing with good retention. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and bitter while the short finish became slightly more bitter.

DRINKABILITY: I would have loved to have another of these. While not a stout that would knock your socks off, it is a good solid milk stout, memorable in all the right ways. The surprising taste after the nice but rather modest aroma was a refreshing surprise. This beer is very easy to drink and offers an excellent value for the price. I'll probably have this one again and again.

A: black. How I like my stouts. A frothy head eventually recedes to a ring that sticks around. Spotty lacing.

S: milk chocolate and anise dominate the aroma. Hints of dark fruit. A bit of coffee-like roastiness.

T: the taste is definitely more roasty with a touch of lactose and sweetness right on the end. A little bitter from start to finish.

M: pretty silky, but the carbonation and bitterness cut into it. Better in bigger sips.

Pretty solid stout. Rich but not cloying.

Pours a black some mahogany notes when held to the light. Thumb sized khaki head falls to a ring with some spotty sheet lace.

Aroma is sweet malts definite lactose notes, light coffee and and a sprinkling of chocolate.

Taste is nice nice roasted notes, mocha notes coffee and chocolate mingled together. Again lactose sweetness and and some body noted in the finish. Finish also has bitter like chocolate notes with hints of minty/grassy hops and dash of coffee.

Mouthfeel is big medium approaching full nice mellow carbonation which I find enjoyable.

Overall very enjoyable defiantly hitting the spot on this cool evening. Hope I am not being local biased but finding this one very good. Know they are taking some up to Richmond VA at Station 2 try it. Milk Stout fermented on cocoa nibs.
