Stopped here for dinner with the wife before a show. Tiny corner cafe just East of Cathedral square. About six tables and an antique bar that seats about twelve. Most basement rec rooms have more seating. We were there early so it was rather dead. I heard the hostess speaking on the phone to someone about a waiting list to get in for dinner. So plan ahead if you aren't getting there before 4pm.
They had 6 taps to choose from nothing too exciting but they were well thought out brews. I had a North Coast Scrimshaw. Tasted great with dinner. Speaking of dinner. I highly recommend the Bacon and Bleu fries. Especially if you like a pungent bleu.
Service was friendly and prompt. She didn't have too many other patrons to take care of but we never waited for anything.
Overall a nice place to grab a really tasty dinner and not have to wash it sown with swill.

Buckley's... stopped in on a recent Milwaukee tour.
Corner spot downtown, near a few hotels. Older crowd, more of a place you might take your parents for dinner. Upscale, with surf & turf entrees, and the ubiquitous friday fish fry special. Beer wise it was $3.50 for High Life, $7 on the high side for Unibroue items. 6 taps, 30ish bottles. On tap: Fat Squirrel, Totally Naked, Knot Stock, Ambergeddon, Capital Amber, Bells Winter White. In bottles, DFH 90 min, Oaked Arrogant Bastard, Old Rasputin. Some good staples and locals, but nothing too obscure or out of the ordinary.
Greenish-blue walls, art deco prints, Kennedy photos, very interior-design xmas deco. Odd brown tile floor for such an upscale place. Low lighting from table lamps and behind the bar. Four faux Greek heads behind the bar too, 2 with cheeky facial hair. Service was fast and friendly at the bar. The fairly small bar seated maybe 12, and was a nice dark color with a rail.
Opens at 5pm, as per usual for Milwaukee taverns.

I was on a business to Milwaukee and was on the hunt for a place that had great food and good beer. Well Buckleys was it. What really impressed me was that they had FFF Alpha King on tap, you really don't see a lot of FFF in WI. Their selection was rather limited but pretty good quality. They also had a pretty good bottle list. They had some stone, DFH, descent selection of Belgians, Hitachino just to name a few. On top of it the food is fantastic specifically their steak. This is a small place but has a great atmosphere. This is a small family owned restaurant so they have a focus on service which is fantastic. All in all come check out this place because you will not be disappointed.
