1910 is amazingly light and smooth, sporting hints of coffee and touch of dark chocolate in flavor. We accomplish this by steeping the dark malts for 24 hours prior to brewing and using Idaho gown pilsner malt as a base.

12oz can. No dating information found.
Deep brown colored body. One finger of khaki colored head, and a thin cap. Leaves behind a partial ring of lacing.
Aroma roasted malts and floral hops.
Taste is roasted malts, dark caramel, dark roasted coffee, and some dark chocolate at the exit and into the aftertaste. Some fruity and floral hops.
Medium mouth feel. Smooth and crisp finish. Good carbonation.
Smooth coffee and chocolate for malts, and fruity/floral hops for a well balanced brew. Sweet and roasty.

one of their more popular beers and i see why, an excellent take on the style, classically done and very clean as they go, definitely have to rank this among the best beers i have had from wallace to date, frothy headed and deep brown colored from the tap, looks great in the glass and is mighty drinkable for a brew this dark. smells to me like dry cocoa from the roasted grain, german lager yeast, and light smoke with just a hint of sweetness in it, old worldy in nature but extremely fresh. the roast in the flavor isnt as dark as the beer suggests with its color, its more of a chocolate and wet earthiness thing rather than a burnt or charred intensity, that helps this drink lighter and finish cleaner, and it leaves space for the bready yeast to come through. i get hints of toasted almond, hot chocolate, tree bark, and root beer. its got great depth of flavor but is also majorly drinkable and traditional. a really fine take on the style here, gives me a new appreciation for wallace overall too. seems perfectly made for draft, and was a pleasant surprise for me. perhaps the best idaho made schwarzbier i have encountered...

The appearance was a nice looking black color with a thin white to off white foamy head that dissipated within seconds. Light lacing strung down after the beer started going down. The smell had a huge roasty coffee bean to light smoke, light breadiness was here and there. The taste pretty much copied the aroma and lead to a refined smooth sticky sweet light choclatey aftertaste. A semi-dry finish accompanies the aftertaste. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a good sessionable aspect to it. Super smooth stickiness just lathers up my tongue nicely but still doesn’t overdo anything. Overall, I say this was a nice schwarzbier.

Great dark appearance for a lager but smell and flavor are weak. This is not one of their best beers. The brewery is new this was a nice try for the first time.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a dimpled mug. On a side note, I am coincidentally reading The Big Burn right now, about the great fire of 1910 that engulfed Wallace, ID and burned a huge area of national forest. Small world!
Appearance: rich dark brown with ruby highlights and no haze when held up to the light. Head is a finger of frothy tan foam; I dig it.
Smell: toasty and roasty, but with a somewhat dampening yeasty character. Not entirely out of style, but it makes the aroma less enticing.
Mouthfeel: darkly roasted malt combined with a yeasty character and a minimal hop bitterness. It's not bad, but it doesn't excite me.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body but with a big carbonation and really a rather good creaminess.
Overall: something about the yeastiness I just don't love. It's not a bad schwarzbier, but it is also not my favorite.

On tap at Mai Thai. Not quite black, but a very dark brown. Thin creamy beige head, lots of lacing. Mild roast malt aroma. Taste adds a touch of sweetness to take the edge off of the bitterness, making this exceptionally smooth. Creamy mouth feel.

Poured into a Nonic Pint. Time to check off another brewery.
A : The first thing I notice is the tall head, about 4 fingers and very tightly knit like a Guinness. It's off-white to khaki colored. The body is chocolate brown with mahogany and cherry hues. 70% opaque.
S : French toast sticks, maple syrup, pie crusts, caramel, slightly syrup'ed barley.
T : Licorice, coffee bean, shots of milk and cream, maple syrup and rye bread crusts. Lingering roast barley/rye crust dipped in maple syrup on the finish.
F : The light side of medium bodied, mildly carbonated, ends slightly dirty but still crisp and semi-dry.
O : Not a bad Schwarzbier. For the $1.44 I paid for it, I'd probably buy it again if I were in the area.
