Appearance: low carbonation, 1/4 inch head, clear, dark brown in color

Smell: coffee

Taste: coffee, char, light toasted malt, slight creaminess

Mouthfeel: roasty, slightly sweet, light body, moderate carbonation

Overall: An above average, slightly sweet coffee beer. The coffee is not overpowering. Tasty, but just above average for the style.

Love my stouts and finding cans very appealing. The pour from this one was black as I would expect any stout to be. But when I opened the can and could hear the phsssshhh, I knew there was going to be a lot of carbonation.

The aroma was a typical stout, chocolate with coffee and a layer of malt. The taste, wasn't exactly what I had hoped for. While the beer taste itself wad good, there was just too much carbonation in this beer, that it reminded me of one of a less inexpensive style of beer.
Too much fizzz
But drinkable

A -Rich black pour with a thin cola colored head. Spotty lacing.

S - Mild coffee smell. Some smoke is noted. Has a milk chocolate scent like Yoo-Hoo.

T - Flavors of lactose, mild coffee, dark malts, and ends with a bit of smoke. Some acidity in the finish as well.

M - Has a dry finish and light body. Easy to drink, but somewhat tiring at the end.

O - Decent milk stout. A great changeup from a coffee porter as a nice coffee flavored beer that is easy to drink. Pair this with jalapeno poppers or a similar spicy appetizer.

From the one pint can marked 3443-16:49. Sampled on January 12, 2014.

The pour is dark brown to nearly black but not quite there. A modest mocha head that dissolves slowly.

The aroma is mostly coffee upfront with dark malts playing understudy. Not a sweet aroma but more of a bitter coffee with cream scent.

The body is thin to medium. I might have liked it to be fuller.

The taste is also a coffee and cream paradise with a mildly bitter bite coming up behind. Not bad at all.

It's kind of hard to mess up a stout's appearance. This one is nice and black with a khaki head.

There's a mild aroma of roast malts, but I'm not getting much, if any, coffee on this.

The taste is also pretty mild. It tastes like a straight, single stout and that works. It's basically a superior alternative to Guinness and I'd be interested in trying a car-bomb made with the stuff.

This is a great beer for the price.

Nice head, steady lacing. Looks appealing.

Doesnt really smell of coffee, roast, or anything. Definitely flat aroma.

Not really coffee milk stout in my opinion. Not getting coffee or lactose balance. Not bitter nor lingering aftertaste however, but definitely bland. Needs more malt or coffee.

Too thin in the mouth. Watery.

Overall disappointed. Wanted a good local milk stout but got watery maybe malt liquid.

Consumed 1/23/13

Appearance: Pours dark brown, with some medium brown clarity around the edges - small, light tan head, fades to some wisps, leaves some decent streaks of lacing

Smell: Roasty coffee and lightly burnt, roasted malts - nice amount of coffee aroma, but it definitely smells more like from an extract rather than brewed - some burnt, lightly charred malts - a touch of lactose sugar, becomes more potent as it warms - some milky sweetness, not as much as I feared though - some dark chocolate as well

Taste: Roasty malts, dark chocolate, and coffee flavor - burnt grains with a touch of char - some sweetness in the malts and sweetness from the lactose - dark chocolate and some milk chocolate - coffee extract - yes, this is reminiscent of coffee milk, except burnt - some earthiness

Mouthfeel: Medium body, nice amount of carbonation, smooth, finishes with some sweetness

Overall: I'm predicting a Dunkin Donuts imperial coffee stout next

I bought this can out of curiosity, but I was afraid to drink it for a few weeks because I feared it would be way too sweet. Surprisingly, it isn't. It is sweet, but it works. The coffee flavor could be better, but I suppose that judgment is wrong if you're a huge fan of Autocrat. I guess it's "a Rhode Island thing."
