Tallboy can poured into nonick glass

Nice amber color and malty nose. Just a hint of hops. The taste follows suit. Decent amount of body.

This is a nice bargain seasonal beer and what I imagine regular 'Gansette should be.
Respectable ABV for the money and would be welcome addition to any BBQ, poker night or game day festivity.

"Hi neighbor! Have a "Gansett!" Remember that slogan? Then you're old, too! ;-) I first saw it in an add for 'Gansett on the back of a Red Sox Yearbook, around the late '60's.... Yikes! Anyhow, have seen 6-packs of these 16oz cans at Market basket for $7.99... Hmmmm... Seemed to be worth a shot, and I do like Maibocks.... So, wtf, eh?

Poured a can into an imperial pint glass.... It's a clear brew, with some slow, steady carbo, and a rich, medium-copper color. Head is a smidge off-white, foamy and fluffy, and sticks to the edges quite nicely. Aroma has some toasty malt and a bit of grassy hopping. Body is solidly medium, and it is mostly smooth going down, having just a touch of prickliness.

Flavor has some subtle sweetness, more toasty malt, some bready action, and a light hint of caramel. Afterwards it has some grassy notes plus a stab of spiciness. Some florality lingers a bit, but the finish is mostly on the dry side. Overall, not bad.... was hoping for a bit more of a pronounced malt profile, but this is still a good value. And, I believe, my first 'Gansett ever. How about that, neighbor?

Prosit!!

Had a pint at the Old Engine Room in Mystic, CT. Wonderful sweetness balanced by some bitter grassy hops. What a pleasant herbal aroma that is perfectly matched in the taste. This has got to be one of the best low-cost beers available! Matches with damn near any appetizer or entree. Try it!

16oz can poured into a tulip glass.

A: Rusty orange body with a big frothy off white head. Lots of lacing and retention.

S: Light carmel malt on the nose

T: Follows the nose along with some skunking.

M: Light slightly creamy mouthfeel.

O: Its ok, maybe I don't like the style but this is one I wont revisit.

Pint can poured into a glass tankard.

Appearance: Pours a clear golden brown with a pillowy one-inch white head that sticks around for about ten minutes. Lacing is observable. Attractive beer - looks like a classic bock.

Aroma: Nose is malty, somewhat spicy and vaguely boozy. Nothing off-putting in the aroma, but no one flavor stands out. There's some toast, caramel and hops in there.

Taste: This is a pretty tasty beer. It has the clean, accessible flavor of a dark lager and the zip of a big-ish beer. It's easy-drinking enough that it could be considered a session lager, but it also works as a slow-drinking companion to a good meal. I had this with tacos and it got the job done.

Mouthfeel: It's easy on the palate and has a dry finish. Some prickly bitterness, but not in a bad way.

Overall: This is a solid dark lager that should appeal to fans of a straight-up bock. It's accessible without being boring, and is definitely priced fairly (usually $9-$10 for six tallboys). I like this more than Narragansett's original lager, which I like. Would drink again.

Mostly drank from the can, a small amount was poured out to gauge appearance.

A: Golden orange in color with a fizzy off white head. Very clear.

S: Not too much here. Yeasty and bready. Just the slightest hint of malt.

T: Nice german hop presence. Slightly nutty and malty. Some bready yeast flavors.

M: Medium light body that is creamy. Medium carbonation.

O: Surprisingly good. It lacks some qualities, but this is a good beer for both you and your dad. Enough "oomph" for the craft beer drinker and plain enough for the casual beer drinker. Plus, it come in 16 oz. pounders and those are incredible.

Rich coppery color with active carbonation and off white head
Sweet malt aroma
Light malty taste with a nice touch of bitterness from the hops at the end
Mouthful is tingly, from carbonation, but light
Overall it is a nice spring beer - light, colorful, good carbonation.
Goes down easy and does give a taste of spring during this thaw.

Poured into pint glass

Appearance: clear medium amber color with minimal white head

Smell: caramel

Taste: clean, but yeasty and sweet notes

Mouthfeel: clean medium body, then bitter

Overall - good beer for many occasions, good when hot but complex with a little bitter at finish makes it good with food or whenever.
