I love me a pint can...have enjoyed 2 6ers of this and am finally getting around to reviewing it.

Pours a clear copper color with a creamy two inches of off-white head. It keeps quite well, creamy, thick and full, coating the glass nicely as well.

Smell is sweet and bready, with a big dose of caramel and some peppery spice as well. There is an earthy, slightly nutty aroma as well, and a floral quality to the hops too.

Taste is also bready with a grainy, almost toasty flavor plus some caramel sweetness. It's nutty as well, and maybe that's a better description than toasty. More like toasted nuts than toasted bread. There's a bit of an earthy, slightly bitter hoppiness in the finish with a touch of grass as well. It's very smooth and creamy, and very flavorful.

Mouthfeel is a chewy medium body, not really fuller than that but it feels a bit fuller because of the chewiness. Very smooth, although there is a metallic character to it as well that detracts just slightly.

This is one of the best maibocks I've had and just an excellent beer. The fact that it comes in tallboys and sells so cheaply only makes it better. I wish I bought a case because the 2 6 packs were so enjoyable. Very well done; a great spring beer.

"Hi neighbor! Have a "Gansett!" Remember that slogan? Then you're old, too! ;-) I first saw it in an add for 'Gansett on the back of a Red Sox Yearbook, around the late '60's.... Yikes! Anyhow, have seen 6-packs of these 16oz cans at Market basket for $7.99... Hmmmm... Seemed to be worth a shot, and I do like Maibocks.... So, wtf, eh?

Poured a can into an imperial pint glass.... It's a clear brew, with some slow, steady carbo, and a rich, medium-copper color. Head is a smidge off-white, foamy and fluffy, and sticks to the edges quite nicely. Aroma has some toasty malt and a bit of grassy hopping. Body is solidly medium, and it is mostly smooth going down, having just a touch of prickliness.

Flavor has some subtle sweetness, more toasty malt, some bready action, and a light hint of caramel. Afterwards it has some grassy notes plus a stab of spiciness. Some florality lingers a bit, but the finish is mostly on the dry side. Overall, not bad.... was hoping for a bit more of a pronounced malt profile, but this is still a good value. And, I believe, my first 'Gansett ever. How about that, neighbor?

Prosit!!
