Style | ABV
American Blonde Ale |  4.20% ABV

Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
Narragansett Summer is a light session ale made with two row pale malt and citra hops. The citra hops are a very popular, newer variety that deliver aromas of citrus and passion fruit without overpowering the taste buds. The beer is blonde in color and the mild kiss of the hops complement the pale malt perfectly, making it extremely drinkable.

Trader Joes representing the Narragansett brews well; I've also gotten the average lager and stellar porter. On my first trip to the Chelsea TJs picked up a six pack of tall boys at a nice price for NYC - $8.99.

A - Slightly orange straw color.
S - Whiffs of hop and malt.
T - This is where the beer blows me away- great hops and ale flavor, I was expecting a wussy summer quencher - this is for sure an ale.
M - Pleasant at first, quickly dissipates.
O - Very good and very drinkable summer brew - this is definitely my pick for the summer.

Narragansett Summer Ale is gold in color.
White head, nice lacing left behind.
The smell is very mild. Grains and some sweetness.

Really nice flavor. Thin malts, citrus, lemony. Dry, slightly biter finish.

Very enjoyable. Easy to drink.
Excellent summer beer.

Would pair well with salads, sea food, fish tacos.

Appearance - clear golden straw color with white head

Smell - herbal, grassy aroma with lemon thrown in for good measure, hint of honey

Taste - grassy flavor with some lemon and a bit of spice from the hops

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, high lively carbonation, crisp, hoppier than expected

Overall - decent beer, one that would be great during BBQ season

Price point - $1.89/16 oz can

Pours a clear golden yellow with a nice white head. There was no real and defiant smell to the beer. Taste is pretty bland for a summer beer, there is no stand out ingredient that really screams summer. Mouthfeel is a lightly carbonated beer that hangs around for a little bit. Overall it's a little below average and really not worth it. #t6pp

Serving: Can, from the can
Served: 3 June 2014

Appearance: Had this from the can, so can't comment much on the appearance. Can artwork is great though.

Smell: Traditional "beery" smell, but very sweet and with a slight overlay of hop aroma, though it is not strong enough to discern any true notes from it.

Taste: A nice light-bodied beer on the sweeter side with a slight assertion of citrus hop flavor and a mild bitterness on the back end. A beer that is unpretentious in its flavor, but assertive nonetheless, with a solid flavor profile for a beer that is meant to be easy-drinking and sessionable.

Mouthfeel: Medium-high to high carbonation brings the lighter body some life.

Overall: Better than the Narragansett lager, and a bit more expensive, coming in at just over $8/sixer here in Boston. However, for this price and quantity (16oz cans), I'd be hard pressed to find a better sessionable summer beer that doesn't blast me with hops. Would definitely recommend, especially if you're looking for a party/BBQ beer.
