Is there such thing as a "great" American Adjunct Lager? I don't think so -even considering the cute attempts making a "good" adjunct from microbrewers. I mean, this stuff was developed with cutting costs and mass production in mind. Taste was secondary, or tertiary. And don't get me started about "light" adjuncts. That being said, this brew is about as good as an old school post-prohibition American adjunct can get. The noble aspect of the American Adjunct is "drinkable" and 'Gansett nails it.

Nose: Doesn't smell like much more that a bit of corny malt and a tad sweet.
Taste and Mouthfeel: Taste is sweet, corny, smooth, light bodied and drinkable.

There you have it. There isn't much to say about any adjunct -that one can actually swallow. Utterly simple, the opposite of complex, not powerful either, just easy and "drinkable" . . .

This style doesn't have an "A" beer. Like Malt Liquor, the style itself is so shitty and rooted in mediocrity as a goal that it can't produce a great beer.

That being said: I drink these. It's not bad and it's cheap and sessionable. I would buy 'Gansett more often for session drinking if Boston Lager, Brooklyn Lager, and Prima Pils weren't so readily available and reasonably priced in 12 packs.

taste it for yourself. you can buy a lot more expensive beer but still not compare to what narragansett is brewing. i have not been let down by anything that has their name on it. the lager is good to go to anytime but their seasonal releases are their finest works. even their prices seem fairly low for a product this good. great job narragansett!!.

A: Pours straw colored, big white head.

S: Sugary grain, corn, trace of hops.

T/M: Bready, grainy malt. Sweet..crisp, refreshing. Touch of hops. Has some body to back up its taste, which is one of the attributes of a solid lager.

O: A nice American lager.

16oz can poured into a Pint glass.

A - Pours a clear light orange with a two finger almost-white head that fades slowly. Good lacing on the glass.

S - Wheat, sweet smelling.

T - Wheat, light lager sweetness.

D - Tons of carbonation, light body.

O - Umm... It's a lager baby.
