The food co-op is the local health food option. It has that pretentious air about that many health food locales have. You get the usual stare down when you buy meat, or the employees see you shopping at another store and buying the non-organics.
As far as the beer goes, it's one of the better single bottle selections in town. They do not have a large volume of beers, but they do get a nice variety of singles. The six packs and cases leave something to be desired.
The co-op does give significant discounts on food (I don't think beer but maybe...) if you volunteer a couple hours a month. Worth looking into if you have the time, and the patience for the attitude.

Off the main drag in Bozeman. Maybe a few blocks from Bozeman campus.
This place is an artsy grocery store with a smaller beer selection. Guy working there was friendly took me to the beer selection.
The Beer slection was not very large. A few doors of cold beer and of a small aisle of warm.
The cold section devouted to BMC and a hodge podge of craft 6s / 12s. An decent assortment of Montana made beer(Big Sky,Madison Brewing, Double Haul). In one side cooler, I found a few foot section of cold bombers and singles(Bear Republic, Double Haul 16oz cans).
Overall was pretty plain jane. No cellar reserves or cork/caged options. Nothing to weird and funky. I grabbed a Racer 5, Big Sky Trout Slayer 6'r, and a Double Haul Ipa can(New brewery out of Missoula).
I asked check guy at counter were I could find some Deschute higher end stuff(Abyss,Mirror Mirror..). He told me to try the Conaco gas station by campus, a few blocks away. I went and it was like worth it.
Not really a "BA" destination stop, but would do in a pinch.
