This is my go to place for buying beer. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and they always have an awesome selection of beers. Most of which are already sold out at other more well known establishments. Christian the guy who runs the store knows a lot about beer and is always giving you a heads up as to when new beers are coming in or being released.
One thing I will say is although they have a good selection of beer, wine is the emphasis. As I said though, it's a bit off the beaten path so finding that harder to find beer here isn't out of the norm.
If you're in the Plymouth area, go see Christian and talk beer with him.

My go-to for craft beer. Not huge but by far the most well-curated selection in the west metro. Their staff is the real deal. And I’m a complete beer snob.

Vinifera Wine and Ales is a small place to say the least. It is, perhaps, slightly larger than The Four Firkins. However, it isn't a beer store. It is a wine store with a small section for beer. By small I mean one section of shelving, and one small cooler. Most of this space is devoted to six packs so the total number of beers they carry is around fifty. The beers they carry are well selected, but are available at every other beer store in the Twin Cities. Their service is very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, I will go back for wine, but not for beer as there is no real selection of beer to choose from.

UPDATE- They have renovated their space and now have a much larger beer selection and a large cooler. Focus is on Minnesota brews. They sell Furious on Fridays for $8.99 which is pretty dang good deal. They are worth a stop!

The staff is exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly, able to recommend or point you to a beer you'll love.
Almost all of the beer has a description and the best part is that almost all the beer is labeled with the beeradvocate rating - I love that. They have a good selection for a small place and in the winter they have a good mix a six selection.
If you live in Plymouth or are in the area, certainly stop by and check out what they have to offer. In addition to their beer they have a massive wine selection and some hard liquor as well.
