A: Dark for an IPA--bold burnt orange body with some haze. Soapy off white head which is leaving some nice lacing on the glass.
S: It doesn't really have the aroma I expect from an IPA. The biggest component I get is a green apple aroma--maybe they use hops I'm not used to? Or maybe mine's expired? I see no freshness date. Truly, it doesn't smell bad--just not IPAish. On a second smell, I do get a little more citrus with some pine background, which makes me happy. Strangely I also get banana. Intrigued, not necessarily in a good way.
T: Much more IPA-ish. Sadly, not too strong on the hops though. I'm beginning to think I have an old bottle. I'm glad I just got one and not a six pack! However, I'm not sure if it's actually old so I'm going to go ahead with the review and assume it's not! (Put a freshness date on your beers, breweries....a lot of reviewers don't review beers that are marked as expired). Sour apple up front, caramel through the middle with a grainy, wheaty beer-tasting finish. Hmm.
M: It's actually kind of refreshing, which is weird because it's an almost 10% ABV beer! Mine has a wet, refreshing finish without lingering hop bitterness.
