12oz bottle, best by October 2, 2012, so it should be fresh. Served at around 40F.
Pours very lightly hazy golden amber with a one finger off-white head that recedes to a small bubbly cap and leaves some spotty lacing behind.
Aroma is apricot, very floral, somewhat grassy hops, a touch of citrus, alcohol, some sweet caramel malt as well. Good to very good strength.
Flavor pretty much mirrors the aroma, a lot of apricot, floral and grassy hops, hints of citrus, decent caramel malt backbone offers some sweetness, finishes with fair bitterness. Some solvent alcohol noted on the finish as well.
Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, oily, sticky, mild carbonation.
OK DIPA. Too much apricot for me...just not my favorite flavor characteristic in IPAs and this has a lot of it. Fairly boozy, too.

A: not much head, nice lacing though. Dark amber in color
S: maybe I'm a bit congested or something but I don't get much on the aroma.
T: very good. This is an interesting beer because the initial taste is boozy with raisin flavored like a Belgian double or something but then you get that hit of citrusy hops which finish with an intense and excellent bitterness. Good.
M: nice. Light and then bitter finish is very pleasant
O: this is a solid beer...interesting because of the booziness while still maintains hoppy character

The pour was a nice typical high IBU orange hue. The head lasted but only a few seconds.
But there was no question about hops here. Lots of different hops all coming out at once.
Once I got past the aroma, my first sip verified what my nose was saying. It was a nice dry bitterness, grapefruit, pine tar and citrus spices. But then, what else? that was it, there wasnt anything else. I wanted some malt to balance the bitterness, but with this beer, I just got bitterness without any roundness .
Even though this was a mid range IBU (70), the taste presented itself as being higher, but without a lot of the typical high IBU styles.
So, I walked away from this one with mixed emotions.
